admittedly don't play that many games but Arkham Asylum is easily one of the best I have. it's great on pretty much any level you care to look at it

City is gorgeous, the design is outstanding but the sheer amount of side quests and stuff you have to do to get 100 just overloads my brain. never finished it for that reason

 

Thought on the next film:

Just do the Penguin. Maybe one other new villain (Hush already hinted at). The Joker can wait. The deleted scene that Reeves talks about with another instance of the Joker mid-movie they cut would be plenty for the next movie, assuming the rest of the cast nails it again (I have no doubt they will).

He’s much better as a side character this early in the story than the main dude. Give him the third movie. But please, not the next one. The rogues gallery is chock full of others deserving of a shot.

 

I assume she will because of the reception but I wonder if Selina will return?

It would be the first adaptation where she appears in more than one film I believe.

After seeing this movie, I am in agreement with the people that think the Court of Owls would be completely unnecessary, at least this early.

We just came off a movie where the thrust was about how corrupted Gotham was; we're going to follow it with a movie about a secret society? Feels less like it would be an extension and more like it would be spinning its wheels.

Same thing goes with doing a movie about Penguin or Joker. We've done Joker enough already, and while Colin Farrell as Penguin was great, I wouldn't want the sequel to be all about him. I'd love for him to reappear, but...

I just feel like there are so many great rogues that have yet to have a solid film presence, if any. Killer Croc, Mad Hatter, Clayface, Man-Bat... hell, even deep cuts like Maxie Zeus and the Ventriloquist would be interesting to see realized.

Riddler and Penguin benefitted from the fact that we haven't seen live-action interpretations of them for a while. I'm fully onboard with Mr. Freeze for similar reasons, if he shows up.

I reiterate that I really want Reeves to take the plunge and not be afraid to get fucking weird with the franchise.

 

Do Batman v Superman again and redo the Martha scene

 

This was great. The Dark Knight is my favourite Batman film, but this was a close second. Interestingly I can also kinda see it slotting in after Batman Begins in a similar way to how Dark Knight did. I really appreciated the emphasis on detective work, while at the same time having Bruce make mistakes due to inexperience

 

Movie would have been better if they replaced that foo fighters song with blink 182’s stay together for the kids.

Give me Mr Freeze

 

Freeze, Ivy, Hush

 

A really grounded take on Freeze where people just acknowledge “yeah this exists” could be bonkers.

The last two Apes sequels played the idea of a society of intelligent apes in a doomsday society very straight, and it was easy enough to believe it, at least for a rube like me. That could work here too. I believe in Reeves.

 

As someone who hasn't enjoyed a superhero movie in like 10 years with the exception of Spiderverse: this was really good. The first hour and a half is a legit triumph of genre filmmaking, could watch Pattman investigate leads and follow people in dark and seedy locales for the entire 3 hours if I'm being honest. Lost me just a touch during the overly expository 2nd act and the moral philosophizing of the 3rd act (also thought Dano was on kind of a different wavelength than the movie required but that's neither here nor there) but those are minor gripes in what was overall a really great experience, especially visually. Really refreshing to see one of these movies actually look, you know, directed

 

This is exactly how I feel.

Or say Man-Bat. Have a scene where Battinson just muses for a moment, "I'm fighting a giant bat... okay." Like just play it completely straight.

Frankly, they should just do it like the Arkham games since they seem to capturing that feel pretty well thus far.
