Good question; just a film I've never gotten around to before. Crime/murder films have never been my thing really, so that's probably partly why. But the pandemic has given me time to dive into most movie classics from the last several decades, which has been great. I recently went on a Brad Pitt and Robert Redford kick, and one of Brad's films, Seven, I found I never saw before, but see has really high ratings. So I'll probably check it soon

    And I'm 35, hahah

fair enough! it’s a very good movie that i would recommend but it’s also about as dark as it gets

I honestly kinda hate Se7en, not because I think it’s secretly not good, but because it’s very good at a thing that is aggressively not my vibe.

You guys are talking about Se7en and it makes me recall the ending and then I just get sad and depressed.

I also am constantly quoting that line from Freeman's character about Ernest Hemingway.

Feel like I'm not hearing a lot of Paul Dano praise and that makes me concerned

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

this is more Zodiac than Se7en imo. which rules because Zodiac is Fincher's best

Dano is doing great work in this ofc but there are moments where you can just feel him and the director are pushing in different ways, and frankly it's awkward sometimes. he's more impactful the less you see of him

It's A LOT of movie. Paul Dano's Riddler is a good performance and all but it's not something like Heath Ledger's Joker where it's all anyone can talk about

Omg t minus one hour, can’t believe it’s finally here, seems like just yesterday (two years) I was in a New Orleans hotel room watching the suit test footage over and over again.

  20. Came back from seeing this and I was blown away. Going in, I expected to be more drawn to the main characters, but honestly the entire cast was fantastic in this. I also remember seeing rumors about it being a horror movie, and while these were misleading, I definitely got those vibes at times. The soundtrack was captivating and even terrifying during key parts, which added to the near constant ominousness and tenseness. It felt heavy... whether it was too much or not, I'm not sure. The main downside that comes to mind, especially in a movie already this long, was the amount of exposition heavy scenes. It was the specific kind of I'm more used to seeing in procedural TV series, though I get that the noir detective setting calls for their presence. I felt like a couple of those at least could've been trimmed. Other than that, I was on the edge for the entire duration and I already want to cram in a second viewing soon.

“I’m going to dump out the popcorn and eat baked beans out of mine.” may be the best comment on there.

Just sat down in the theater. I’m the only person here so far. I was hoping it would be quieter now than this evening and I was correct. See you all on the other side!

I remember watching some of Dano's performances (prisoners, there will be blood) and then finding out his partner is Zoe Kazan (huge crush) and was just like, this dude is unreal.

All the best for him and all the roles, I love his work.
