But seriously, Three Billboards doesn't have any business winning any of those categories.

The fact that it's in there for Original Screenplay but Phantom Thread is not makes me furious. That film was brilliantly written.

I would be stunned but absolutely elated if Daniel Kaluuya won Best Actor at the Oscars. His performance was incredible. That shot of him in the sunken place, eyes wide and tears streaming down his face, is one of the most iconic shots in the last few years.

No sound awards for Phantom Thread leads me to believe none of the Academy voters saw that movie

I'll be disappointed if Get Out doesn't win at least one of those awards. Would LOVE LOVE LOVE if Peele won for director though.

If the Oscars were tomorrow, my guess is Oldman, McDormand, Rockwell, and Janney are going to take the Acting nods. The nominations, overall, are pleasantly surprising, but when it comes to awarding them, I have a feeling it'll be super predictable and indicative of how the Awards season has been so far. Also betting Del Toro wins director and Three Billboards wins Picture.

Sufjan should've been nominated for "Visions of Gideon" over "Mystery of Love", that track just propels the ending to another level.

Literally the only thing I'm truly disappointed about here is The Florida Project missing out on a BP nomination. Overall, I'm really happy about these.

Surprised Denzel got a BA nomination. I've not even heard of that movie. Also, didn't expect Armie Hammer to miss out on a Supporting Actor nom. And then Logan being nominated for adapted screenplay seems out of left field... I mean I'm super glad. I just didn't know it was in any Oscar conversation at this point.

I know the studios really pushed Logan and Wonder Woman hard for awards. I liked them and the Last Jedi but, aside from Three Billboards, a lot of the actual nominees are better. Granted I didn’t see and likely will not see Darkest Hour.
