Yeah the problem I have with people like Affleck or like Mel Gibson is that they are totally unrepentant. Gibson is way worse in that regard than Affleck, who at least tries to just ignore it rather than act as if he's entitled to forgiveness simply because he went away for a few years. Like, seriously, show some goddamn humility and contrition if you want to be forgiven.

  2. There are so many perfect moments in Moonlight, and that scene that Ali likely won for is one of them. Trevante Rhodes could have won for the entire third act.

Still can't believe Moonlight actually won. This is the happiest I've felt the morning after the Oscars in a really long time.

Guys I still can't believe it. Moonlight fucking won best picture. That's UNREAAAAAAL. This is clearly the best winner of the decade, maybe even going back to Schindler's List????

On the subject of smaller roles being nominated, Viola Davis was nominated for best supporting actress for one 8 minute scene in Doubt.

Crazy that Lion Hidden Figures and Jackie to a lesser extent went away empty handed

Still kind of surprised they didn't toss Jackie the costume design bone. As for the other two, I didn't see any potential places where they could've stolen the award from the eventual winner (although Lion's cinematography was pretty great, it was a beautifully shot film).

The Departed is the only one I can think of that's been better. Now, had Inception or Toy Story 3 won back in 2010, either would be the winner of best :-D

NCFOM is still the best of the 2000s for me.

Definitely, without question, Moonlight is the best film to win in the 2010s. As for the 2000s, The Departed and No Country for Old Men back-to-back was pretty solid, those are both amazing films (even if There Will Be Blood probably deserved it in 2007 more).

Schindler's List was the best film to win of the 90s, definitely, and probably one of the top ten best Best Picture winners of all time, in my opinion.

No Country for Old Men was incredible and the Oscars still got it wrong that year.

I also forgot Whiplash was nominated but didn't win for best pic. That is the best.

Yeah no specific snub just fascinating that 3 best picture nominees got nothing, wasn't expecting Hell Or High Water to get anything as solid as it was

I didn't expect Hacksaw or Hell or Highwater to win anything, was just happy there were nominated.

The Return of the King was the last time the best nominated film won best picture.

I love that all 3 LOTR films were nominated.

The Departed was the last time the second best nominated film won Best Picture. Unless we count 2008 which, let's not.

    Eat Snickers, leave garbage.

I know it isn't necessarily your view, but I don't buy what this article is saying. It seems like that was written just so the writer could play devil's advocate. While the immediate chatter surrounds the award presentation screw-up, this unconventional method will make this one of the more memorable Oscars down the line and Moonlight will benefit from that.

Ask your average person to name Best Picture winners from the last decade, and they'll likely forget some, maybe many. But this draws more eyes to this awards ceremony and in-turn, draws more eyes to Moonlight as well. Much in the way your average person likely remembers Miss Philippines over other Miss Universe winners thanks to the coverage the Steve Harvey blunder received. Moonlight's win wasn't traditional, but saying it was robbed seems like a stretch.

In fairness, 2007 was a FIRE year for film. But yeah, it should have been There Will Be Blood.
