  1. I really think this album makes the most sense split up into these four sides. they individually remind me of the eps

Listened to this band’s discog on shuffle today when I was mowing the lawn. I forget how stacked it is.

It's INSANE how many epically (ew I don't like that but I'm sticking with it) great tracks that they have in such a short amount of time. It also became more and more apparent that the "experimentation" on some of these more recent records has been in their wheelhouse since the very beginning. What used to seem like a small foot note on earlier EP releases is now just far more normal and expanded.

Seriously - hearing him talk about all that made me even more disappointed in the decision not to use it for this record.

I split it up into 4 EPs today but did it more by style, and made sure each started with an instrumental. works out pretty good in a lot of different sequences tbh (including the one it came in!) :chin:

also would love to know your thoughts on my mega MFC playlist lol

I agree with a lot of folks saying the first chunk is a little slow after people. I really love the birthday party as a song but it’s placement feels really off.

Predictably I like all the pop/rock songs on this and could do without all the instrumental interludes and electronic tracks. Hate to be so basic but that's my immediate first take

While I love this album, it almost put me to sleep on a long drive yesterday. I had to put on some Dogleg.

As I've done with the last two albums, I spent some time trimming (what I consider) the fat and doing some slight re-sequencing, I personally enjoy the album waaayyy more this way:

    1. People
    2. Frail State of Mind
    3. Then Because She Goes
    4. The Birthday Party
    5. Jesus Christ
    6. Me & You Together Song
    7. I think There's Something You Should Know
    8. Roadkill
    9. Nothing Revealed / Everything Denied
    10. Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy)
    11. Too Shy
    12. Playing On My Mind
    13. Guys

I think "I like it when you sleep..." is probably still their strongest overall complete work, front to back - "The Ballad Of Me And My Brain" is probably the most unique thing they've ever done

Here's my attempt at a cohesive Music For Cars playlist, minus some instrumentals & interludes

    1. The 1975 (ABIIOR)
    2. Give Yourself A Try
    3. Frail State Of Mind
    4. Yeah I Know
    5. Sincerity Is Scary
    6. Inside Your Mind
    7. The Birthday Party
    8. Then Because She Goes
    9. It's Not Living (If It's Not With You)
    10. I Think There's Something You Should Know
    11. Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy)
    12. The Man Who Married A Robot
    13. TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME
    14. If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know)
    15. Surrounded By Heads & Bodies
    16. Roadkill
    17. Mine
    18. Nothing Revealed / Everything Denied
    19. Playing On My Mind
    20. Guys
    21. What Should I Say
    22. Me & You Together Song
    23. Don't Worry
    24. I Couldn't Be More In Love
    25. Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America
    26. I Always Wanna Die Sometimes
    27. People
    28. Bagsy Not In Yet
    29. I Like America And America Likes Me
    30. The End (Music For Cars)
    31. Love It If We Made It

But for casual listening I'll probably cut out "Mine" "Inside Your Mind" "Surrounded By Heads & Bodies" & "The Man Who Married A Robot"

But yeah, I tried to sequence this very deliberately so it fits a coherent narrative too, that I'm hoping makese sense, but probably doesn't.

Just listened to it. Honestly, will forever be in my top 3 albums of all time, and I’m not sure if there will ever be another album that’s so specifically catered to my sensibilities. Truly is the most underrated masterpiece I know of

also, any 1975 fan who wants a indie/post rock/acoustic-emo record that’s sequenced and varied like a 1975 album, listen to it
