The amount of people i’ve seen that don’t know Bagsy is a sample is impressive. These youths!

ILIW feels like a much heavier and robust listen than this does to me personally.

First listen through just concluded, loved it. I thought it flowed great, tons of great songs, “interludes” used perfectly. Electronic elements on a completely different level, I prefer these instrumentals to most of their previous work (which I of course also love). Especially enjoyed the latter half upon first listen. Can’t wait to dig in to the nuance and take it in/become familiar with these songs.

    I agree

Notes is super intimate to me, less sprawling than ILIWYS

ILIWYS is the benchmark for album sequencing for me, personally. Definitely makes the flow of this album more apparent

Really disappointing record. Didn't find a ton I latched onto on first listen.

listening to this album and thinking about how I would have been seeing them last night if things were normal... I’m fine :verysad:

This is a great "late night walk with a joint" album

I've never listened to Ride before. I guess I'll throw on Nowhere today

I should probably go back and listen to The Streets too, it's been a long time since I tried out Original Pirate Material and I feel like I was too young to fully "get it"

These are two of my favorite songs on the album but they’re not alt country or shoegazey at all.

Weird post! M&YTS absolutely has elements of Shoegaze. Matty just referenced Ride as a direct inspiration for the song!

I mean Matty in interviews has specifically cited those genres but go off I guess!

Tbf, just because an artist says they were inspired by something does not mean the thing they wrote deserves to rep the same genre tag. But yeah in this case both of those songs most definitely contain both of those elements

They’ve interspersed some short video clips of abstract visual stuff into the album while Matty talks in the background... it’s pretty pointless IMO and he’s just repeating a lot of stuff about the album’s themes that he has already said better in other places.

They could've released this as a double album of B-sides and nobody would've blinked
