  1. i think "people" and "too shy" are the clear standouts/single-worthy songs.

  3. I'm working on it! It's like the hundredth time I end up loving a record that's obviously influenced by Bon Iver, so I've got no excuse.

I'll give this like a 6.75 or 7/10 on second listen. It really loses me at parts and I don't think there is a high on this album that matches the highs of ABIIOR

This was alright background music while working. I'm definitely more into their singles and more guitar driven songs on this album. Some songs came on and I felt like I was back in the 2005 walking through American Eagle.

I always try to get into this band, but their albums just haven't clicked with me. I'm definitely more of singles guy with them.

Frail state of mind is still the clear highlight for me, but the only unreleased song that grabbed my attention was Yeah I Know.

Some really cool moments here but it is far too long and doesn’t feel as cohesive as their past albums. It reminds me of Life of Pablo a little bit because you can really tell that they worked on it over a long period of time and right up until the deadline because the album lacks a sense of direction despite some of the songs being great.

This concerns me. ABI is perfect imo, and was worried this wouldn’t live up.

It's not bad at all! I just think it feels very long and there's parts that kinda meander/could have been done once on the album instead of a bunch, but I still like it!

I like most of this a lot but man the whole time I’m thinking if they just trimmed this up a little bit that it would be their best album.

Intro and 2 instrumentals to start the album is a big head scratcher for me and kind of kill the tone and momentum “People” and “frail..” set.

Wait this album starts with two instrumentals....?

No, it’s intro - people- instrumental - frail - instrumental

    I worded that poorly haha

Greta, People, Instrumental, Frail State, Instrumental, Birthday Party. Then the album becomes something completely different.

No it starts with the greta speech into People but 2 of the first 5 are instrumentals. It's an odd start.

I’ve listened a few times now and I honestly wouldn’t change anything about this album. Listened to A Brief Inquiry into Notes this morning and took it as one giant album. It works so well.

Honestly, the weird album that this thing’s initial pacing & use of instrumentals reminds me of is Linkin Park’s A Thousand Suns.

Going back through their discography. I think I'm listening to Antichrist for the first time. Pretty good stuff!

After one listen I think this will be my least favorite. It feels like they set the goal that this album was going to be 22 songs and didn’t have the material so they filled in the spaces with interludes and short experimental beats. So much hype over so many months it’s hard not to feel disappointed.

I don’t understand how people can already have a definitive opinion on an album after one listen. I usually give albums at least a few listens before I start to make any definitive “this album is their best/worst” type statements.

  25. This is how I feel now, but also a bit how I felt with ABIIOR when it first came out. Not into the third track killing all the momentum of People, but I'm diving in for a second listen. We'll see how my opinion changes over time. ABIIOR is now my favourite 1975 album and I never would have thought that on first listen.
