It’s very dull to me. Doesn’t really go anywhere.

I'm not gonna listen to that, I'll just wait to hear the closer at this point

The song is sweet. And only works as a closer. If it had been anywhere else on the album it wouldn’t have the same effect. There was a time prior to covid when this was going to be their last album for a long time and this was Matty’s homage to their last decade together and I think it sticks that landing. It won’t be a song I listen to on its own very often, but as an album closer it’s absolutely fitting and I adore it for that.

It does have a very “credits rolling” vibe to it.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

That explanation makes it all the more baffling to release as a prerelease single

Yeah exactly. Closers to me have never needed to be big, triumphant songs like I Always Wanna Die. That’s another way to close an album, sure. And that song is one of their best. But I have also always appreciated a much more mellow track that eases your way out more gently.

Besides, the track or two before it may be the big one some of your would like to end an album, where this one exists as more of an epilogue.

But either way, I think it works beautifully.

Really surprised Apple Music has not updated the new album cover.
