My name is Steve. I haven't ranked albums since 08, but this album hasn't aged as well as I'd hope. I still like it more than most records released this past year.

okay so i decided to spin s/t today on my record player and then i started looking at the art for it. with the recent grammy nom for their set i pulled i like it when you sleep out too and i just looked at them side to side. the difference of the imagery and context. so different. the contrast is amazing to physically look at in a tangible way. s/t looks so despondent, so somber and even moody. then to see how vivid and lively i like it when you sleep is. this band is so thoughtful about so many aspects of creating, it just doesn't stop at the music.

What's everybody's thoughts on the s/t now that the new one has been out for a while? I only picked it up three months back actually but I love it. Only song I'm not crazy about it Talk which actually grates on me during the chorus lol

talk and money are ones i tend to skim over. they played money at my show recently and i was like WTF this over all the other amazingly great ones (like paris, ballad that they didnt play). i do think that it does tend to sound better live than on record though.

the debut is fantastic, it just doesnt feel as fully realized as this album does. aesthetically, thematically, musically, they just took a huge step up in every category with this one

I still love the debut and think it's a great debut, and great record for that matter - but you can tell they were only just beginning. I also really don't like "Talk" but "MONEY" is so good, such vibes of The Streets.

The S/T is great and I still love it. It definitely has some gems on it (Sex, Settle Down, Robbers, Menswear). I agree with Jake that the album doesn't feel as fully realized or thematic as the new one, which makes sense because Matty/the band has gone on record to say the S/T spans a lot of years that the band was writing music for, not necessarily as The 1975 either.

I got burnt out on the debut, probably because I had already been listening to a lot of tracks in the year beforehand due to the EPs. But I am ready to revisit it because it's amazing.

The Debut is a great album to throw on, but ILIWYS is better as a listening experience
