All I would say is.. please do some research before you believe any cancellation headline tweet you see from a Harry Styles Stan account on twitter

I would say I did the research by listening to what was said, and I think he crossed a line imo (so I'm not just going off of a stan account cancellation tweet). I would also say that if it was an artist people in here didn't like, and the headline was essentially the same, it'd be 'wow, they're gross' and the discussion would be over and that would be the end of it. I'm just questioning the lack of objectivity, and find it weird how peoples lines change depending on how much they like the music or the art. But that's just an opinion. If you're honest about that not being case, who am I to question that?

It also has nothing to do with Taylor Swift and I don't even really like her persona or her music. I was in here weeks ago arguing when the podcast dropped that it was a shitty look, and just essentially got told 'lol that's cum town babyy'.

The article really just boils down to this below and the fact that there can be a collective agreement on whether it's a 1 or 2. Case in point DgD was brought up. The majority opinion is we should all take stance 2 but sure, you can take stance 1, we'll just judge you now. Depending on where you go online, and the echo chamber you're in, the 'collective' stance changes for this situation.

To me, when an artist I like has done or said something I don't agree with, my course of action as a fan sort of follows one of a couple paths:
    1. I can accept the person making the art isn't me and move along enjoying art I love for what it is.
    2. It taints my experience with the art to the point that it's not fulfilling for me to experience it anymore.

  5. What Can We Expect?
Fan driven cancel culture as we've seen it for the last 10 years or so is changing. People are seeing it doesn't work because "deplatforming" only works if there is industry action behind it and often there won't be. Because it doesn't work, cancel culture as we know it online right now just feels more interested in trying to be The Most Ethical Consumer more than it feels interested in genuine safety or positive change. The tides are changing to reacting to that feeling, which I fear is destined to swing all the way to the other side especially as uninvested people watch big pop star stans have these emotional reactions.

That rings true to me and what I've seen over the last decade as well. Not here per se, but on Twitter and the social media culture as a whole.

Thanks for sharing the article, some interesting things in there.

well i was talking about healy's enjoyment of porn with racist over/undertones which is at the very least icky and within the bounds of calling someone racist.

Kind of goes along with what I’ve said before about us as listeners having very little power to hold people accountable and people skating by after horrible shit comes out leaving us disillusioned, so the target becomes the people who aren’t cancelling the right people fast enough for the right reasons, and yeah I’ll admit I have swung in the other direction because of it where I’m getting annoyed at how much attention and vitriol is spilled over boneheaded comments on a podcast

Guessing more US tour dates dropping soon? (though I know the one for me is a fest I can't attend but would probably travel somewhere cool).

Could be totally wrong and haven't followed this band long enough to see their previous tour patterns, but I'm expecting the same stage set up, with a few twists in the setlist, but different markets. IE no repeat cities at all except festivals and the biggest of the big markets.

I am hoping hard for a Denver date, hopefully red rocks! Though I'd go to any arena show in Denver just to visit there and jam out. But red rocks... Gotta stretch my fingers and get them ready for the refresh battle.
