Liam is definitely funnier these days. Noel is starting to get kind of bitter.

Noel needs dozens of words to try to insult Matty, Liam merely needs to utter the word "potato".

He certainly picked the wrong time to be in the spotlight due to the Cum Town video still being fresh in the public mind. At least when it comes to his public image, which I’m sure he doesn’t care too much about or will act as if he doesn’t.

Matty Healy discourse should be banned from this website

Lots of one brain cell people kicking about these days then. I get they're a lot of ya'lls favorite band, and they're up there for mine too, but if you just found who matty healy was, and listened to that podcast, you'd probably have a less than flattering opinion of him. Sure, a lot of is a bit hyperbolic, but the complete love is just fanboying and i guarantee hypocritical to how some of you treat artists you have no love for.

I don’t know, I guess try harder to learn before espousing an opinion?

I don’t think people will put much research into a podcast called Cum Town, tbh

I guess what I'm saying is of course you're entitled to your opinion, but if your only engagement with a person/artist is a one-off podcast appearance, I'm not sure how much value your opinion has to me.

And thats fine. But the podcast is the worst one, as its presented as off the cuff 'real' banter between friends.

Even that new yorker article doesnt really help with the podcast part. 'Youre either not really mad at me and virtue signalling, or mad because you've got a screw loose'.

Okay Matty, i think its okay to wonder why you had to tell a story about the specific problematic porn you watch, or participate (or at the very least laugh at), some of the things you did. But sure, we'll find out eventually where it falls into your art personna, and what your true point was.

At the end of day, streaming numbers are up, they're headling every major festival and its mostly an online discourse. They're not going anywhere, but how some people view him, and now their fans, will stick for a while longer and tbh, i think that's totally fair for the moment.

matty is dirt bag left now

i’m skeptical of the movement because typically movements in history like it end up transitioning from being skeptical about identity politics (around gender and race especially) because they are easily co-opted by capital forces (true) to becoming fascists disillusioned by “the left” or they think they’re enlightened communists but make those ‘pesky’ identity politics people out to be an enemy of the party’s goals.

It also makes people feel free to say they’re not *ACTUALLY* being racist because language doesn’t necessarily equal material harm to marginalized communities so much as policy.

Really remains to be seen how much further he takes this, I’ve mentioned my concerns for his allyship being performative over the years and this is very much an extension of that concern.

If Matty wants to start quoting Parenti to Taylor Swift fans while still doing shitty cum town bits I can ALMOST put up with it

not sure what this has to do with anything.

but identity politics should be understood as its original conception conceived by the Combahee River Collective.

Azealia is problematic in her own way but the fact that she mentioned the The Academy Is omg

Although I doubt that’s the context they would want to be mentioned in.
