The only difference for me is "The 1975 ft. Greta Thunberg" stands alone

Yes, I was intentionally using their language. The opening song is a pretty broad survey of the world as he sees it from a cultural and political lens, without much of a traditional narrative. The chorus as it stands is simply "it's about time and this is what it looks like" -- very specifically framed as an overture.

Allows him to spend more time with his family too, which is probably why it works

The way they dissect and talk about their songs I would totally be okay with an entire record retrospective where they do “alternate” versions of previous recordings plus besides for like the next two releases lol

Tape Notes ep is a revelation so far honestly, cannot believe that tremolo bass trick in POTB I would have NEVER known it wasn’t a bowed double bass (and that was the first instrument I ever picked up, and played for years). crazy good sound design.

  15. I don’t mind them doing whatever they want with the title tracks, but the soft sound refrain was definitely awesome and would’ve been cool for them to keep up. I would say they work just as well as standalone tracks in the sense that I’m never listening to the opener on this album by itself either, and I’ll probably never hear the Notes one again period

What are these tracks everyone’s talking about?

They are the band, so they decide whatever 'The 1975' title track is. Whether that's more 'soft sound', or not. It evolves. Also, 5 albums deep, it'd probably get a bit old, and I'm glad that on an 11 track album, we actually have a true 'track' out of it that I want to continue coming back to. Not just an opening number.

I don't really listen to podcasts but this one sounds pretty cool, similar to Song Exploder

That must be the version they worked on with BJ. Makes sense they went in another direction once they went “organic” in the instrumentation, but I would love to know what a fully fleshed out collab with him would have sounded like.
