The 1975 Announce Their Next Album on Beats 1

Stoked! Wasn't even aware the albums were part of a trilogy?

So after this album we get the heavy metal 1975 we've all been looking forward to?

 

most anticipated.

 

I like some of their songs but this whole...whatever "this" is...behind it is kind of tiring. Like they're some group of mystical beings or something (that's not quite what I meant but was the closest way I could word it).

 

It has nothing to do with that. The band simply got huge because A LOT of people liked them and they caught traction well on the first album. It also helps that the band is pretty reserved and never in the public eye. We, the fans and people who don't like them, create that allure ourselves. Much like other bands including Brand New, Radiohead, etc.


I personally can't wait. Loved both full length's and I'm seeing them May 28th for the first time. Possibly hearing a new song live? If I could only be so lucky.

 

Fuck yeah.

If this is the last the 1975 album and is as great as they're hoping it is, they will be able to make the case as one of the best bands of our generation. no joke

 

Can't hardly wait for this, one of the best and most important bands out there. Both their self-titled album and I like it when you sleep... are decade-defining records.

 

I like it when you sleep..., less so, I think. I' say the first album was much more popular and "decade-defining" than the second. maybe that's just my perception though since i only really liked the first album.

I'd say the second more so. I think it's better in every way and they got a lot more popular on that cycle.

 

butttt I think the second album was much more respected in terms of scope and execution of their ideas. So the combination is pretty rife for both of them to make that case.

Second one has been way more defining and propelling for them, for sure. This is the album that took them to the next level without a doubt and has a stronger presence or identity. I know a lot of people prefer the debut, but the latter has a lot more surrounding it for sure.

 

I'm already making this case, get on the hype train.

The second is definitely more decade-defining. Whatever that means and however it's measured, haha. But seriously, they went from big to huge on that record, and it showed you can innovate with a ton of different styles and not only make it into one giant cohesive whole, but make it into something that critics, fans, and previous-haters can all rally behind.
