i wouldnt exactly call them "pompous" given how dour the subject matter of the album is, but id also be down for 80+ minutes of sad 1975 music so what do i know

Haha pompous is maybe the wrong word, give how dour their subject matter usually is

I hope it's got a good mix of the styles they've done over the years while also sounding fresh. I also hope now with the upcoming release of this, they get a spot on music midtown in Atlanta in the fall. I saw them at Shaky Knees fest a few years ago and they were fantastic live and converted a few non-fans. I think it'd make sense to do a few late year fests after the album although they may be busy touring the UK at that point so who knows.

Pompousness is exactly what I'd call the factor that has always kept me from liking TWY

  6. It's also one of the exact reasons I love The 1975.

Do we think it's possible they might not be releasing a single at all, just the album June 1?

it's been two years so it's time to finally say it: I like it when you sleep is my favorite album of the decade so far. Easily.

I've seen them three times. I drove from St. Louis to Chicago to see them in 2016 at a Lolla after show at the House of Blues. It was really intimate. I saw them in Kansas City shortly before ILIWYS came out at a big theater and it was a great introduction to the cycle and my first time seeing them. Last time seeing them was in late 2016 in St. Louis with my girlfriend right before we moved to Philly. Three of the best shows I've ever seen.

Seen them twice in Philly. One was at Union Transfer right after Self-Titled came out. The band was amazing, crowd was a bust, it was a 21+ show that started at 11PM after a Title Fight show wrapped up. People at that show managed to suck the life out of anybody who wanted to sing along or have a good time. That experience soured me a little on seeing them so I missed their Fillmore show in 2015 but I made up for it with the show at The Mann. The visuals at that show were amazing, band sounded tight as hell, and everyone in that crowd was a lot more vibrant and excited.

The best crowd vibe was the Kansas City show right before the album dropped. But in St. Louis I was up on the balcony which was absolutely fucking incredible getting a great view of the entire stage the whole time
