For the last few years, Pitchfork's lists have been trending away from the RYM general consensus. "Love It If We Made It" has a 3.11 on RYM, which is fair – it's decent, but not spectacular. It used to be that the two would work hand in hand, but with Bodak Yellow last year and now this, RYM has clearly taken the upper hand.

  3. RYM was already bad but once every other shoutbox turned into "Ronald McDonald this Ronald McDonald that", it got even worse.

Most of those shoutboxes you're referring to consist of people disliking how a Fan-Tano review can influence the rating of an album, like Trench by 21 Pilots got a boost because of Fan-Tano's 8/10 score, and now the average for the album is up to 3.10 compared to the 3.01 it was at before.

  5. Yes but it's like most of the userbase isn't capable of discussing anything else anymore. That plus the constant disdain towards non-Ronald McDonald approved pop and especially LGBT pop artists is suspicious. The ratings say it all.

Just to predict the next few posts, scoring albums is a waste of time, who cares, etc.

I've never thought of the site having an inherent bias against LGBT artists. Off the top of my head, Perfume Genius, Frank Ocean, Julien Baker, Against Me!, and Troye Sivan have scored well. If you have examples of an anti-LGBT bias on the site, I'm interested to know.

  7. Pop artists in particular. I'll use the Pop Music thread or the LGBT musicians one to expand my thoughts later, because it's a larger problem that isn't exclusive to RYM, and it would be a bit too off topic here.

If you want a good chuckle and a long sigh at the same time, go check out the indieheads subreddit thread on the P4K top 100 list. The 1975 is being described as "EDM-rock".

I’d rather not go out of my way to get outraged at bad takes, seems unhealthy

    Just a friendly reminder

I'm so happy that "Love It If We Made It" is being recognized as the powerhouse song it is.

  13. In 2001 I really cared what the rest of the internet was saying about music I liked and wanted to prove them wrong if I disagreed.

    In 2018 I really really don't. Heh.

  18. Weird to still be waiting for Billboard this late. Someone must have reported late or something ... usually doesn't happen.

There was an issue with the prior weeks sales, too. They never even updated the chart on their website. I check every week- it's still bothering me, haha

ok good, mine said it was going to be here today (which it won't be) but it hasn't updated anything beyond that in like 6 days.

So I haven't been in the thread in 3 days so I apologize if it's been addressed, but even though it debuted at #4, it charted at #1 for pure album sales. Pretty great!

Also crazy how much streaming effects number depending on the genre. Most rock and country album sales are usually 80% pure sales, 20% streaming......hip hop is basically 95% streaming. that trash 6ix9ine album debuted at number 2, but on the pure albums chart didn't even crack the Top 50.
