Reading "user" reviews and comments all over the web, and I haven't seen this much vitriol for a band since... Coldplay perhaps?

I know I shouldn't care about this, but it is funny seeing people being so negatively hyperbolic.

Heh. Yeah, the backlash will keep coming ... someone's gonna do the "this isn't that good review" for clicks. I have a guess where that's coming from.

And then you have the "I define myself and my coolness by the things I don't like" group which always has something to say.

And then there's the people still mad they were wrong about the band and have to double down.

I've seen people mad that these guys have covered an Ariana Grande song and I just... do not get it. Ariana Grande Just Got the Mediocre Indie Bro Special

 

This makes me twice as mad considering the fact that Matty literally spends time praising her before the song. Like there is a genuine appreciation shown of her and her song before they cover it. That article makes a valid criticism of like the Ryan Adams album but it’s not what is happening here.

 

Its just like when FOB covered "Beat it" by MJ and the emo world lost its shit for like a week. People make such a huge thing out of nothing.

 

The writer here says that the only reason she's heard of them is that they covered the song. Like... where have you been for the last 5 years, exactly?
