    "What’s your relationship with Kanye?
It’s sad to see somebody so famed for self-awareness lose that. He’s supporting regressive ideas. If his objective is to make as much noise then it works, but ostracizing black people isn’t just morally bankrupt, it’s not even a good idea! He seems really, really mentally ill."

I love how this man says what everyone is thinking but to chicken shit to say out loud.

Yeah, that’s what I meant. I wasn’t a fan of the interviewers questions towards the end, between that and the baby question.

Theres so many other more interesting questions to ask regarding the record that it seems lazy and trying to get a soundbite about his experience

I love this part from the vulture article:

"Why do you feel such an urgency to make so much music?

I don’t know. Do you not feel really urgent right now? To articulate that is weird, right? I’m such a drama queen. Everybody is living their own movie, everybody is the protagonist in the world. If you’re a writer, you want a great ending, right? I was obsessed"

Yeah I'd be annoyed too if I was Matty at the end of that interview between the asking about using again and about the kids thing again

This made me laugh so fucking hard.

I'd be annoyed because what if his gf can't have kids? I hate it when people ask me when I'm having kids..its not a fun time when you have to say "I'm not. thanks for reminding me".

This is just like when ILIWYS came out with everyone having different immediate favorites... which means those favorites could very well change with time.. my messy initial thoughts:

For me this really does feel like their "morning/miday/ album with it fading to night in the last 3 tracks.. makes me wonder if the amphitheaters for the upcoming tour were intentional for that reason. The piano notes that tie the whole album together have such a hopeful daytime feeling. The portraits/paintings of all the band members artwork that they released way back before we knew anything of this record feels like it fits in with all the classical instrumentation in my mind, reminds me of looking through all these old portraits of composers as a child when I was obsessed with different classical instruments. Then at the end where we are left with this cliffhanger like transition into the next album which is said to be a night time album. I am thrilled with all these songs. I never know what I'm going to get with this band but it always feels so right. I cant tell what my favorite is at this point but I am obsessed with what they did with how to draw/petrichor. I think if I hadn't listened to the singles so religiously this album would be even more overwhelming. Theres alot here to dig into

Third listen through... I really wish I hadn't listened to any of the singles before the entire album dropped. Not that I don't like it. I think it's a masterpiece. I'm just jealous of anyone who gets gut punched by LIIWMI for the very first time right after hearing Petrichor.

It’s been a lesson in restraint for me, that’s for sure. There’s still something fresh about those songs in context somehow, miraculously, but I wish that I went in having not listened to any of the songs prior. Going to try not to listen to any of the Pre-release tracks for Notes when the time comes.

I wish I waited to listen to the early singles as I like them more in the context of the album (despite loving them as-is) but really don't think I'll ever have the self-control to wait when this band puts out new music....especially when songs start being released close to six months ahead of time..Patience doesn't stand a chance.

  16. I just loveee listening to the radio premiers and being along for that roll out. it's all part of the big picture of this band for me and I'd miss it too much

On the one hand, I do think going into this fresh would have been a fucking trip, but going in knowing the singles was still a trip. On the other hand, give yourself a try and love it if we made it got me through some really, really nightmarish shit that happened to me this summer, so I’m glad I listened to them

I couldn’t imagine not having Give Yourself a Try in my life for the past 6 months. It came out just over a month after I turned 29 and has really been important to me at this particular age.

I completely agree - At that point I'm itching for and NEED new 1975 songs..So I'm glad I listen to them but there is a level of enjoyment going into an album totally blind or at least only teased by 1 single that I miss.. That said, the way music is being consumed has changed.. so I get it.

I'd love to see this band drop a surprise album one day - a viral tease and out of nowhere album drop is right up their alley.

“ I want it to be the ultimate release. I want to do it for people because parking is a nightmare. The last time I went to a show I was watching 33-year-olds. They probably got a babysitter. They have to sit in traffic. When I’m doing press-ups that’s what I’m thinking about. It takes a lot for me to go to a show. Drake tonight. I’ve got three tickets. Can’t be arsed. But I love Drake. [Pause.] Fuck man. That’s hard. ”

    Love this so much
