Now that you mention it, I did see one billboard... but had no idea it was the 1975 until much later. All it said was "RIP LIL PEEP" so it wasn't really the best ad for anyone who doesn't already know its for the band

Did their last album get significantly more hype than this? I don’t remember, but I also didn’t love the band quite as much back then so maybe I just wasn’t paying too much attention.

First off, that's a pretty solid list from TIME, impressed with their picks. Second off, it's November 16 and there is an EOTY????? Is this the first one of the year, I really hope it is

I don't even remember what my mid year list looked like, but I'm sure the end of the year one will be a lot different. So many releases came out in the last four months.

Nov 1 would have been a better release date to drive hype (and they would have basically had that Friday to themselves), but who cares? They’re going to do fine in sales and the critics seem to love it. They clearly weren’t ready a month ago.
