I don't believe that Pale Waves is intentionally ripping off The 1975. George and Matty's production of them is making them sound like The 1975 than allowing them to sound like themselves. Here's an old demo of their's. Note how much more of an indie underwater surf rock vibe these tracks have as well as a bit more aggression from Heather instead of the aloof Healy act:

They also use to present differently, I found this surprising

I hope Adam comes out of his shell next tour. He has a lot of the most emotive guitar parts and it'd be neato to see him and matty both let go on stage at once.

Yeah I saw this back when I was searching for what gear they used cause I kinda wanted a similar setup/vibe...ended up using NOTHING similar all this time later lmao, except the Boss CE-2W which is essentially the Roland Jazz Chorus amp they use but in pedal form. Still managed to make my own 1975-inspired sound on my own though!

I really like those two songs too, especially Heavenly.

Also they've definitely got more style these days, are the two guys even the same people?

Here's a sound demo. Strat through a Vox AC15, and this is my pedalboard

I haven't delved into the apple music festival set, how does it compare to the O2? That's my go-to live album, such a great set and loooooooooooooong

it's great, the sound quality isn't quite as pristine as the O2 one though. i thought paris sounded extremely well in this one for some reason. it's a little older set so it has so far (it's alright), anobrain, me, and sex as the closer.

  19. Just catching up here for the first time in a while. With fall now here I'm in much of a 1975 mood again, and I'm more than ready for new shit.

That being said, I see this as another late winter release, with a single before years end as was the case for ILWYS. I don't put any weight on the 1st june description as it's proven in the past to not have any significance for releases. I just think they use it as a metaphor for a reset/next chapter.

So I'm listening to Frank Sinatra for the first time ever.

The way his music makes me feel is the way this band's ambient tracks make me feel e.g. How to Draw, Haunt//Bed, Intro/Set 3, Head.Cars.Bending, Facedown Fallingforyou, Me, Lostmyhead.

I've been looking frantically to recapture the feeling of when I first discovered The 1975 on AP and I've finally found it!

Edit: Specifically In the Wee Small Hours - There's a lot of parallels between this album and Hats by The Blue Nile, one of Marty's favorite bands

Did anyone catch Jamie Oborne's Instagram Story a minute ago? I tuned in last second and saw matty and him together and heard a bit of music but missed the rest of it.

  25. In The Wee Small Hours is one of the saddest albums I've ever listened to. I absolutely love it, especially in the winter time when I'm home alone and feel like being depressed and drinking a glass of whiskey in the dark.
