    "I'll chew on a dog!"

Is the "you" in the new song heroin itself?

  2. moved up maybe? wishful thinking, i'm sure this is just because it's already wednesday in the UK

    Danny ran into some complications
    He falls asleep during conversations
He’s gotta search the street when he’s on vacation
The worst thing is that I’m in the same situation

All I do is sit and think about you
If I knew what you’d do
Collapse my veins wearing beautiful shoes
It’s not living if it’s not with you

Danny says we’re living in a simulation
But he works in a petrol station (selling petrol)
He says it all began with his operation
And I know you think you’re sly but you need some imagination

All I do is sit and think about you
If I knew what you’d do
Collapse my veins wearing beautiful shoes
It’s not living if it’s not with you
All I do is sit and drink without you
If I choose then I lose
Distract my brain from the terrible news
It’s not living if it’s not with you

I can’t stop sweating or control my feet
    I’ve got a twenty-stone monkey that I just can’t beat
I can stage a situation but I just can’t eat
    There’s a feeling you’re replacing embrace

And it’s true that all I do is sit and think about you
If I knew what you’d do
Collapse my veins wearing beautiful shoes
It’s not living if it’s not with you
All I do is sit and drink without you
If I choose then I lose
Distract my brain from the terrible news
It’s not living if it’s not with you

  6. Watching Live at the O2 for the first time. I appreciated this band before but I think the singles and the performance so far are turning me into a full blown stan. We need more bands as willing to experiment and stay ambitious like them.

She's American has to be one of my favorite songs of the past five years.

  7. The electronic/ambient leaning songs seem even more magical live.

  8. Okay sorry for the triple post but what's up with the vitriol towards them? I've been reading reviews and discussions on other music websites for the past hour, and most of them are overly negative, to the point it feels like these people aren't even talking about the same band?

The My Chemical Romance comparisons are even more spot on because I see the same criticisms I remember the former getting in the 00's like "music for high pitched teen girls with cheap metaphors about depression", "manufactured band", "ugh they're wearing eyeliners", "they've got an annoying fanbase", "pretentious/snobby, who would listen to one hour long albums?" and I'm just like ???????????

When you're writing a review and most of the hate you harbor for a band comes from external factors... you've got a serious problem. It's just so suspicious.

Yeah it seems like for the last couple years that the "cool" thing to do is hate on this band. A lot of people can't handle a band that's sonically and musically doing a lot of different things, I guess. Especially if said person has labeled them "rock band" in his/her own head to begin with.

Idk anyone in real life that likes this band, but that’s sad to hear :(

Don’t be surprised to be saying “I told you so” about this band This cycle. Seems like critics are on board with this

i guess it’s been so long since the ‘80s that the pop band/rock band thing induces massive cognitive dissonance in my colleagues

It's too bad this band doesn't get the love they should. I bet you that Kanye doesn't even know he's in one of their songs, which is a shame because maybe Kanye could learn a few things from Matty.

but I'd imagine Matty would just punch Kanye in the face so...there we have it :crylaugh:

i mean i think everyone’s going to come around with this record (including the late, dumb, terrible writer steve hyden), it’s just I’ll never forget how everyone was too cool for this band for years

I think this is one of the reasons I love this band. The 80's music influences are what drew me to them 3 years ago.

To me, it’s be happy when people like the same things as you, let all the rest of the bullshit stay on the side.

Idk, have y’all never disliked a band but later came around a few album cycles down the road? No need to be like “I told you so” and shit, just let people either be on board or not

I’m not going to be mad about someone liking the same thing as me, regardless of the reason. Pitchfork has clearly been pivoting towards being pro-1975 this cycle, but all that means to me is that more people will give them a chance and their music will change more people’s lives like it’s changed mine.

Also, keep in mind that the people who work at publications change, and people’s opinions change as well. If they were trashing the band, I wouldn’t care either, as long as it came from an authentic place.

Some of my favorite albums of the last two years came from folks I never particularly cared for.

Not like pitchfork was explicitly overtly negative until now either, the ILIWYS review is generally positive and the 02 review is very positive
