it really makes the song pop, if that makes sense. like the very bold bright colors fit the song perfectly.

Something about watching Matty grooving to it makes me like the song more, too. Like how I can actually imagine him doing that in the studio and makes for a more fun listen.

I like that song so much more than the other songs they’ve released so far on this album cycle. It’s weird because I don’t think there was a single 1975 song I didn’t like prior to this cycle. I’m glad I ended up liking this one song... I didn’t even check it out until the video came out and that’s unheard of for me with them. Now, I’m excited for what comes next again.

i'm usually able to hold off on singles until the album is out for almost every band, but i just can't keep myself from these songs. always loved the first two and did a full 180º on the third. very likely that i'll even listen to a leak, which i haven't done for years now.

  10. How random, I knew it sounded familiar but I didn't expect a Jay Park sample at all.

I still feel the same way I felt back then, this band makes me feel things I don't get to feel with any other band. They make me feel awake and alive and it's strange to say that about music but honestly who gives a shit!

Man have really grown to love TOOTIME. Prob on par with Love It but the chorus to Love It is some of the best shit they have ever done it must be said.

i cant even begin to explain what love it if we made it has come to mean to me. i think its obvious i view matty's lyrics through the lens of his addiction because that's the experience i identify with the most in his life, but regardless i think there's a very deliberate reason the song starts out with the line "fucking in a car, shooting heroin." it kind of portrays the fucked up mindset a lot of us are in today, self medicating to just deal with everything. and then there's sort of a scatterbrained laundry list of popular and political culture refrences/concepts, to where its almost hard to keep up and keep it all straight which perfectly encapsulates not only the mind of an addict but the general way society moves in 2018. all of this is backed of course by music that is upbeat, yes, but also very in your face and confrontational, the beat almost feels like its coming from within you its hitting so hard. to me this represents the need to try and keep it all together and keep moving along despite all the shit he's talking about and despite the desire to self medicate just to survive. it's a fucking triumph because, in my experience anyway, being an addict in the 2010's is absolutely 100% a matter of survival and especially in the last few years i feel like i really am lucky just to be alive with what ive gone through and given the tone of these songs i think matty feels the same which is why im having such a strong, visceral connection to them despite them being brand new. it feels like ive had give yourself a try and love it if we made it right there with me the entire way and not just a couple months. idk this might not make sense to anyone else

and idk if anyone has discussed what the phrase "love it if we made it" means, i think its deliberately open ended, but to me he's saying he'd love it if we, our generation, made it through these times and came out stronger on the other end of it

there's another interpretation i see but this one might be a little confusing or redundant. but its like he'd love society if it was made in the image of our generation, but it's not so he kind of hates it as based on some of the lyrics in the verses about heavier topics/trump quotes.

also idk if anyone remembers when people were a little weary about matty tackling political topics in his lyrics, but i think love it if we made it should put to rest any doubt he can tackle weighty topics like that in an extremely smart but relatable way.

i've always heard it this way. "I'd love it, if, after all this shit, we still make it through."
