I didn’t see a thread for it, but I screened Upgrade last night. If you haven’t heard of it, think John Wick meets Hardcore Henry, though, not on par with the former and far better than the latter. The movie is at its best when it accepts that it’s a completely ridiculous over the top piece of shlock and just rolls with that. I found myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions. It falls flat when it tries to actually be a movie with a heart and characters and acting and all that good stuff. But on the whole, it’s a good way to spend 90 minutes if you’re bored and wanna have some mindless fun. I wouldn’t recommend paying full price, but if you have MoviePass or if your theater offers a discount day then I’d definitely say it’s worth it.
