Lol I was just thinking about that too, how I'd regularly just be okay with my phone getting stuck into boot loops at random times and I'm completely blanking on specific names but I had custom recoveries and extensive backups to just reflash a new OS on the fly. My phone died on a Sunday morning where I had no plans and was livid/stressed, but I definitely just remember times where I'd be out and just have my phone bootlooping in my pocket.

I tried the Arc browser for the first time and while I don't think I'm ready to make a full jump to it, it's definitely something I'm going to keep up with. I like the concept, the pinned tabs, and how fast and easy everything seemed to be. The main thing I am stuggling with is honestly that most of the internet is not built with a side panel in mind, and I like the width. Youtube was kind of a pain to use because the video screen was so tiny, and changing to cinematic mode moves everything else down which I also am not a fan of. Hopefully they're able to figure out these things because feature wise its a really great browser, but not one I am ready for

Not sure if this is the best place to ask this so apologies if this would be better suited somewhere else:

I just received some weird alert notice about AirPods being located near me, starting at 3:19 pm. I have never owned or connected to AirPods and my wifi is off so I have no idea what the message/alert means. When I clicked “disconnect from device” or whatever it gave me directions on how to disconnect the AirPods, but I don’t have them so that wasn’t what I needed. I’m very confused. I also just opened like 6-7 boxes that were delivered today from Lego so now I’m like, “are there somehow AirPods in one of the boxes?” because 3:19 would have been around the time I brought the boxes to my apartment from the lobby.

I have screenshots from some of the messages/alerts if that would help to share. I’m just freaking out that someone is somehow connected to my iPhone or something.

It's so fucked that LG makes the best TVs with such terrible software haha. Hulu can't stay at 4K. I just opened D+ for Loki, and it was at maybe 480p for a solid two minutes before I gave up, and Dolby vision never activated on it

Launched it from my Shield TV box and it was instantly in 4K Dolby Vision. Both are on WiFi. Never going back.

Yeah I liked my LG’s software initially but I’m starting to feel the need for an Apple TV.

After having my Pixel for a good chunk of time, I decided to pair my headphones back to my S21... And holy shit

The difference in Bluetooth audio quality is very noticeable. Dolby Atmos over LDAC is no joke. Even non Dolby Atmos content sounds better than the pixel on this phone.

Anyone here set up a Plex or Jellyfin server? Looking into setting one up and was curious if anyone has a strong preference either way. Right now I'm leaning towards Jellyfin because it seems good enough for what I want to do, but wasn't sure if there are game changers that Plex offers over it

I know quite a few of us use Plex. I've been using it for like a decade, first as a user on a friend's then I set up my own, and I love it. Let me know if you have any questions, but it's super easy and intuitive.

Will definitely reach out about any questions! I'm currently researching NAS systems and am wondering if it's even necessary?

It's much better than using any of the Synology or QNAP software for streaming content from your NAS. If you get a NAS I highly recommend a Synology and also one with an Intel CPU for better Plex support for transcoding if needed, however I've never had to transcode everything as all the stuff I stream from my Plex server just uses DirectPlay.

I've got a DS218+ which I'm slowly moving over to my Rackmounted Synology server, for starting out this years model of mine (the DS224+) would likely be a good start.

Thanks! The 224+ was the one I had been leaning towards, with a RAID1 setup.

I have one sitting there waiting to be setup, but I don't know if I want to go through the trouble. I just have mine on my laptop with my media on an external drive. The only pain point is having to have my laptop on for people to use it.

It’s super easy to set up and it’s super worthwhile. I’ve got all my blu-ray’s ripped and it’s super handy for anything that’s not on streaming.

Also you can do tons of things with the Synology too. I’ve got it set up for Time Machine backups for my Mac’s, I’ve got a PiHole installed for network wide tracking/ad blocking, homeassistant for making non-HomeKit smart home things functional with HomeKit. The possibilities are endless! It’s fun.

I can’t believe I’m even toying with this idea, but I think I want to start saving money to move away from my iPhone 12 Mini, and I’m sort of considering giving the S23 Ultra a try. I’m ready for a large phone again, and iOS 17 has been full of bugs on my 12 Mini. I’m pretty immersed in the Apple ecosystem since I’ve used an iPhone since 2008, but I don’t have many accessories, and I’m really only worried about missing Airdrop and iMessage. Has anyone made this same switch? Any thoughts? Customization has become important to me, and I really like the shape of the S23 Ultra.

In all likelihood, I’ll end up with the 15 Pro Max, but there’s such a real part of me that wants a change.

If it's any sort of help, the jump from an iPhone to a Galaxy (and vice versa) is smaller than most Android phones. Galaxy phones are probably the most iPhone-like Android phones

Definitely understand the temptation. I switched to Android when the first Pixel launched in 2016, but switched back to Apple after about a year or so. That said, Androids ecosystem wasn't as built out as it is today, and with RCS coming to iPhone, I think the switch would be even easier.

Customization between Android and iOS isn't really comparable. There's just so much more you can do on Android, but there can be a learning curve and it can be time consuming. I found that while I enjoyed the customization aspects of Android, it wasn't as important to me as the seamlessness of the iPhone. Not just in how the phone works and its simplicity, but devs design apps specifically for iOS using Apple's design standards.

That said, Android has side loading which currently is not supported on iPhone. It makes the phone function a bit closer to a PC than a mobile device, which I think is pretty cool.

Both options are really great tbh. It's really about preference and priorities.
