Side note: I cannot tell you all how much I am dreading the Grammy Album of the Year race. Going to be completely insufferable almost regardless of what wins.

 

My gut tells me it's just going to Beyonce so the academy feels like they are righting a wrong, especially after Jay-z's speech

 

Idk, I felt that way at first, but that album hasn’t lingered in the discourse the way I thought it would. Feels like it maybe came out too early.

 

If Beyoncé wins, it is kind of undercut by Jay-Z said as it could appear to be reacting to that rather than the merits of the album. If she doesn’t win and say Taylor wins, there’s also drama. Can’t wait for that.

 

From a general popularity stance, yes I agree it faded very quick, but I don't think the Grammys ever really line up with things like that.

 

Sometimes they absolutely do. I think the only reason Midnights won was because Taylor had such a dominant year. Idk, I just don't see this one winning when it seems like it's had significantly less legs than any of the three prior albums, all of which lost!

 

Idk, Black Pumas have some Grammys and I honestly couldn’t tell you if it’s a band or an actual group of large cats

 

I don’t think they’ve actually won any Grammys.

 

I believe all those Grammys were won by the White Pumas.

I told people for a full year that Midnights winning was a foregone conclusion, and was repeatedly told there was no way they'd give her a fourth AOTY Grammy. And, well...

 

I didn't think Midnights would win because it didn't deserve to win. Dead at me thinking that matters lol.

But think of all the other artists releasing albums in 2025 she needs to beat for No. 1!
