    Regular

    One of my favorites

Not sure how I feel about this version of Fifteen. It is without a doubt a more polished song now, but the original version always stood out to me on this album as more raw than the other offerings which I think helped sell it as a letter to her younger self

However, all of these vault songs are just fantastic. Give me more

The vault songs are the difference between definitely not buying this to pre-ordering the vinyl.

  3. Gonna dive into and listen to this all day today. I listened to a couple songs last night and holy shit “we were happy” is even better than I imagined it’d be. I like how the vault tracks aren’t note for note remakes of the originals, like how the album tracks are. “That’s When” is quite a bit different. We pretty much got a brand new TS EP today. Very cool.

This is a deeply strange listening experience for me, haha. They replicated so much of the original recordings so accurately, which is incredibly impressive, but there are these little moments throughout where I'm reminded that these aren't the originals I know so well and it's kind of jarring.

Only listened through YBWM and it doesn’t sound right.

Literally came here to see if I was the only one bothered by how YBWM sounds.

Got to admit I've never heard the original, so it sounds absolutely fine to me!

Is it the weird hybrid real/fake sounding snare? That's what threw me off. It's like they tried to make a real snare sound electronic, but kinda stopped messing with it before they got it there.

unfortunately agree :-/ feels like they're playing it too fast at points or something too

    bummer!

I think so. The one in the intro or whatever is whatever but the one in the rest of the song is too high or something?

did you not have ears in 2009?

  13. Is the "ahhh" at 3:04 in "You Belong With Me" new or has that always been there? Seems random and maybe a little too loud haha.

Ahh 2009, I was 19 so probably just drank enough to forget anything that happened that year.

In all seriousness, if I had heard it then it definitely didn't stick with me.

I like it more, mostly because of the vocals. I'm not that familiar/attached to the original though.

The fact that "You All Over Me," "We Were Happy," "That's When," and "Don't You" were in the vault is honestly a crime (but it makes sense when you consider Fearless as a whole).

  17. Just got back from running to Target to pick up the CD. Kinda bummed that she didn't do the secret messages in the lyrics.

I didn't get into Taylor heavily until Speak Now, so while I've listened to Fearless over the years, I don't have nearly the same amount of listens logged as I do all the records since. With that in mind, I'm having a hard time spotting the differences. I'll be really intrigued to hear the re-records of everything since, particularly Red and 1989, which I've listened to more times than I could even count.

This whole project is such a uniquely strange thing to me. I totally get (and support) why she's doing it, but I can't get over how weird it is.

YBWM sounds great. Tf are you all talking about?

I never got into Fearless at all, either, but this'll do it.

Yep, agreed I think this all sounds great. I think I can understand the "strange" listening experience that long-time fans are probably having, really trying to pick out any minor differences however subtle they may be.

But listening to this record for the first time, I'm finding it truly enjoyable.

Pretty wild that people are discovering her best selling, thirteen year old, diamond status album for the first time. But also really, really cool.

What if she doesn't have the same breath sounds in the remake of last kiss tho. Cause if she doesn't then I don't want it tbh!!

It is wild, I agree - to quote my "excuse" from earlier in this thread as to why I am not familiar with this album (or with any of Taylor's stuff until about a year ago)

"For perspective, in ‘08 I was a 23 year old stubborn as shit music fan firmly rooted in alt/emo/indie world."
