I dont think ive seen enough of her performances to put her into a slot but that weird like interpretive dance performance when she had the flu was a travesty. But I can't just base it on that cause like the flu and all that's not fair.

But I'm more inclined to warm up to performers who just kinda feel the music and dance and bop along even if it's not like Paula Abdul levels, which I think lorde does. I'm harsher when they attempt legit rehearsed choreo and suck at it

I can totally see her being in such a bubble that she forgot how lines work

Only a monster cuts in line at the bathroom unless it's been agreed upon by others in line that that person may pee themselves and they are then afforded a pass to cut. There is a PROTOCOL.

Related story: There were a TON of females in the men's restroom a the Taylor show on Saturday when I went in. I didn't particularly care because the ratio of female to male was off the charts and I felt bad for the lines, but at the same time I was standing there taking a piss with about 20 ladies watching, certainly an interesting sitaution

  5. Honestly wouldn't know what ~caliber~ performer I'd consider Taylor Swift because I've never made it through a concert without crying the whole time. To each their own.

Still ready to sue for emotional distress depending on what the random acoustic song is (or isn't) on Friday though because I finally made it out of the nosebleeds and I missed the Red tour so I deserve this.

Wow you guys are very critical. I went to the Seattle show last night and thought it was incredible. There were so many small details and thought put into everything and she didn't seem awkward at all. Yes everything is planned, but even during the moments when she was talking with the crowd it felt genuine. Her mom has even been out in the crowd at every show picking people to meet her afterwards (which means the people watching is fun because of the costumes people come up with).

  11. Yeah, I actually agree... went to the Fearless and 1989 tours and her live show turns me into a ball of emotion - and I've been accused of not even HAVING emotions many times in my life. I don't think painstakingly choreographed automatically = not genuine.

I'm also not bothered if people disagree with me on that. Can't please everyone.

(That being said, I've long held the opinion that Swift doesn't fully understand what her fans love about her - the spectacle is awesome, but we'd sell out an arena tour that was just her sitting there in sweats with an acoustic guitar if that's what she chose to do.)

There are costumes involved? Can I meet her dressed as Olivia that's the dream

I didn't mean to insult her, she impresses me a lot

I'm like so proud of myself for making it this long without peeping at her setlist, but damnit my show is still almost 2 months away. I dont think I can hold out much longer!

I'm critical of popstars performing abilities because they're overpaid af and should be fantastic at it and so many are not, but if she did a stripped down set with an acoustic guitar and a piano I'd be all for it.

I don't mind planned shows (massive popstar shows always are) but when the performer is completely in their head the entire time and is thinking hard about the next move it's awkward and weird, vs a choreographed and planned show that flows and still feels natural. It's also why Britney is a worse performer than her prime because she used to be so natural and now she thinks so hard about every next move and it's stiff and weird.

I saw a whole group dressed as cats! Lots of snakes, zombies, tutus, crowns, and random fandom inside jokes as well.

Fair enough. I haven't really heard of anyone leaving her show disappointed though, so she must be doing something right. I would also be down for this all stripped set at some point (the two acoustic and one piano songs last night were amazing).

  16. Different people just like different things. I think she's a great performer, but taste is super subjective.

I mean like i said i think she makes the spectacle fun and engaging and im sure it's a great time. Ive seen katy Perry live and had a good time too but I wouldn't necessarily call her a great performer. And obv emotional connection plays a huge part. I love a lot of taylors music but I'm not connected enough to her to cry or get mega hyped during any of her performances, whereas when I see xtina I'll probably be a sobbing mess while others are like wtf can she stop oversinging. A lot of Taylor's fans feel massively connected to her and I'm sure they get their life despite me thinking her performing is awkward and disjointed. I'd say this opinion is a minority given how well her tours do

I've been waiting for your show (had no idea when it was, just knew a Cali date) just to get the full reaction as I assume we'll have identical experiences.

  19. I'm actually going to Denver for the tour because that's where my Swiftie crew is! So it's this Friday :-) Better believe I'll have some reactions to report.

Haha you were at Rock in Rio USA? I worked that fest. Small world... totally agree that Bruno was wildly entertaining beyond everyone else that weekend, but to be fair to Taylor that wasn't really her crowd.

I don’t necessarily think that scripting your banter/planning every part of your performance makes the performance less effective or at all “fake.” I mean, shit, Springsteen does that and he’s an all-time live music great.

Naw I mean I've gone to shows where banter and performances are scripted and honestly with big productions everything is often planned to the second because of safety issues with fire, dancers, harnesses, etc so I don't think it's a negative in itself. Taylor is just bad at acting so her scripted stuff comes off cheesy and bad to me. It's not necessarily that its all planned that is the problem, but that she's bad at executing the plans without looking like an actress from the hallmark channel so she doesn't sell it for me, but yeah her tour is like the best selling ever so she'll be fine

I just looked up the StubHub prices for this show in Arlington (ugh) to see how ridiculously expensive it is and...it's not really that badly priced surprisingly?? Hell we might go at this rate
