Guys, you might not know this, but this record is good.

Justice for Ghost Stories, the most unfairly maligned mainstream pop album from the 2010s.

not gonna read through 34 pages if this has been discussed yet but I am hearing some very pleasant sufjan vibes.

There's an argument for "the 1" being her best opener, which is saying something with how much I love "Fearless," "State of Grace," & "I Forgot That You Existed." Love how it marries playful Taylor to that The National instrumentation.

Also, I love how much "betty" feels like a more mature version of Fearless-era Taylor. I know a lot of y'all don't want her to do that re-recording of old albums she's talked about 'cause it'd be a waste of her creative time (which is a funny sentiment now that we've gotten this so soon after Lover)... but, that song makes me even more curious what specifically the beautiful songs of youth on Fearless would sound like if recorded by a Taylor in her 30s.

Not exaggerating when I say that I am stunned. This is so good and is a match made in heaven

Sitting in reverential, shocked silence is a good reaction to an album. I think.

I don’t know if this is intended, but this album also made me EXTREMELY excited to hear how she re-records all the albums at the end of this year.

My boss just waved at me in the parking garage and I had to awkwardly shoo her along since I still have Hoax to listen to

I can't even begin to wrap my head around a 16-song album on first listen, especially not one from an artist I respect as much as her and especially given that she might be doing the best lyrical work of her career. As @cshadows2887 said, I'm definitely not ready to say where it lands in her catalog. But it was a lovely thing to spend my early morning diving into, and I'm super excited to spend a ton of time with it.

"Betty" is my favorite on first listen.

This might get some hate, but this might be the first album from her that I really dig. For some reason, I felt like I needed the vinyl lol. Very much an impulse buy. Ended up getting the betty's garden variant.

Did I read somewhere that the vinyls won't be shipped out for a while?

Glad to see "Betty" getting the respect it deserves. Does anybody else get serious Best Coast vibes from "this is me trying"?

i loveee The National but can totally understand why one wouldn’t like the vocals. His baritone can be a bit monotonous at times but I feel like they are one of those bands that Have this indescribable feeling of once you “get it” you can’t stop listening
