In all seriousness, I am hoping that this is the pivot I was waiting for her to make since Red. Hoping.

Listening to Lover for the first time in a while (been on a big progressive metal streak) and it's still bangers front to back. I'm so excited for tomorrow.

My fiancé noticed the release date is 7/24.

Yes yes yes please have that “written in a cabin but with an ear for the future” sound that I love!

I wasn't hugely into her last two, but the vibe off the covers for this makes it interesting. Then you have 11 songs with aaron dessner? I am there.

This is the wildest part to me. I haven't kept up with The National over the years, but Boxer is still an all timer for me, & there's still a lot I really appreciate about their craft.

I actually think, during the Red album cycle, I said a couple times on AP.net, "I want The National & Taylor Swift to collaborate someday," 'cause I'm a weirdo, lol... and, now, it's kinda happening? Blows my mind.

They fixed your brain when you were young.

Very much same. The cover, title and length have me very interested.

Also, those vinyl colors are amazing.

Only thing that would have made this better was a adrianne lenker collab.

I kinda wish she’d dropped it now. I just know that until I go to sleep tonight I’m going to be building this up in my head.
Absolutely wild. I always wanted a National album but with female vocals. I Am Easy to Find was almost that but I think that’s their weakest album

  21. I hope there's something like "You Had Your Soul With You" on this.

  22. Wasn't huge on her last two records and her public image around the Reputation era generally put me off her but I'm here for this redemption arc.

I can't read it, but apparently these are lyrics from Cardigan on new merch.

But I knew you Playing hide-and-seek and Giving me your weekends I knew you Your heartbeat on the High Line Once in twenty lifetimes And when I felt like I was an old cardigan Under someone’s bed You put me on and said I was your favorite
