This is good, but feels less dynamic and less memorable than Folklore was, which I naturally can't help but compare it to. Just doesn't hit the highs like I felt with Exile and August, but more listens to follow.

  4. In that new Zane Lowe interview, Taylor’s house phone rings at exactly 31:13 into the video. She then says something like “I didn’t even know I had a house phone.”

Some clever Reddit sleuths then discovered that she tweeted the exact same sentence back in 2014, and two months later, she released 1989.

So people are theorizing that she’s currently re-recording 1989 right now.

    People are crazy.
    Taylor is crazier.

PS: She was also sitting in front of a picture of Egypt so obviously people think that’s a clue for something too. Haha.

Did it get mention that Taylor did what The 1975 told everyone what they’d do? Release two albums in short succession and have it be “an era”.

The Tea Time podcast made me think about it when they talked about how some songs on these last two albums are evident that Taylor is a fan of the 1975

Break my soul in two looking for you
    But you're right here
If I can't relate to you anymore
Then who am I related to?
And if this is the long haul
How'd we get here so soon?
Did I close my fist around something delicate?
    Did I shatter you?

    The question pounds my head
    What's a lifetime of achievement
If I pushed you to the edge?
But you were too polite to leave me
And do you miss the rogue
Who coaxed you into paradise and left you there?
    Will you forgive my soul
When you're too wise to trust me and too old to care?

    Fuck............

The more I look into the lyrics on this album, the more heart-wrenching they feel. Just astonishing song-writing

i read that as well on a Taylor Swift Facebook group. They are crazy conspiracy theorists over there. in one of her recent interviews people think she’s signing for help from domestic abuse.

She’s def been a fan! There’s some really fun footage of her losing her mind dancing while seeing them at terminal 5 a few years back.

I don't know that podcast, is it good? That is certainly a conversation topic I'd be interested in listening to, haha.

I'm feeling pretty good about my 'Everlore' consolidated playlist.

    1. the 1
    2. the last great american dynasty
    3. 'tis the damn season
    4. exile
    5. marjorie
    6. peace

    8. seven
    9. august
    10. this is me trying
    11. ivy
    12. cowboy like me

    14. long story short
    15. closure
    16. evermore

In my head, "long story short" is the keystone to this order: "I fell from the pedestal (tracks 1-5), right down the rabbit hole (6-10), long story short I survived (tracks 11-16)". I like how the JV-contributing tracks mixed throughout give it a more cohesive sonic feel, especially the 4-5-6 run of (exile->marjorie->peace) really guts you. In this context, the key Jack tracks from folklore work as a personal reckoning / disassociation and then "ivy" is like starting to pull yourself out of it (also a Jack track, so the sequence kind of has a natural closure).

My biggest complaint about my own playlist is obviously that it does a lot of the same runs as folklore and evermore without too much mixing, but this project really underlined for me how different the albums were from a sonic POV. (Plus, breaking up "mirrorball"->"this is me trying" would be literally a sin.) I also tried a 'Folkmore' playlist where nothing sequenced back-to-back the same as it was on an album or was placed in the same spot (started with "mirrorball", ended with "peace") but I just couldn't get it flow right from a thematic perspective without it being a drag.

It was a brief part of the interview. But they also recorded an episode about the Long Pond sessions. If you can go past 5 minutes you’ll enjoy the listen. But I’d understand if you don’t.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I can't allow any tracklist without "tolerate it" I'm sorry folks

(I think every single post I've made itt has been about "tolerate it" lmao)

that song isn't that good to me! it's sad and the lyrical conceit is fine, but the verse melody barely exists for me at all and I don't think she responds to the free-flow tempo that well with her singing. she's got so many other heartbreakers across this era that I don't get the love.

  25. "tolerate it" took my breath away with its honesty the first time I heard it... But for whatever reason I haven't returned to it much, which is interesting to me. I haven't returned to evermore as a whole (specific songs, hell yes) as much as I thought I would in general, which I suppose at least tells me what my AOTY is.

I am tempted to agree that I don't think the free-flow vocal cadence over the melody works as well as it perhaps could have. But I also have thoughts about whether "closure" worked as well as it should have.
