Haha I mean they literally gave Right Said Fred a writing credit for the chorus, so yeah...that.

I believe the gun lyric is in reference to the DJ in her sexual assault trial. They leaked the picture (of their meet and greet) last year and he said the picture was his "smoking gun" in the case and his best defense

It's a decent song until that chorus. It's not good. And that voicemail at the end made me cringe.

Not going to lie, I'm going to enjoy the hell out of the inevitable DJ mix of these two songs that will be playing in every bar and club in 2 weeks.

This song hurts my soul, it's so bad. And it hurts even more that Jack did this with her. I'm a HUGE Jack Antonoff fan. This one just misses the mark on every level for me.

prechorus is boss, but man, everything else about this track is dreadfully uninteresting to me. i have no doubt this will be huge, nor do I doubt i'll love something about this record, but the attempt at subversion in the chorus and self-awareness in the lyrics both just seem too on the nose or like too little, too late. can't quite pinpoint what it is exactly, but it's along those lines.

doesn't help that I just played the single on Spotify, and it went right through to "All Too Well" and "Sad Beautiful Tragic" after, both of which sounded so much more natural/organic. it's clear that she does not need to try to wow us, which is why i get partially bummed when it seems like she tries so hard on parts of these last couple records.

but it's her artistry, and like i said, most of 1989 is boss, and i'm sure tracks on this upcoming one will be just as indispensible

Sounds like Lorde and Nine Inch Nails made a song together.

That particular collaboration would undoubtedly churn out a better song.

EVERYTHING on Melodrama and Add Violence is light years better than this. Really hoping Kanye somehow uses the recording of their call in a new song, her level of petty-ness is very Jr High, grow up.

Bobby Bones was talking about how it sounds like That Bananas song by Gwen Stefani and that old I’m Too Sexy song. Funny thing too as the guy who wrote I’m too Sexy wrote this new song. The beat sounds like everyone’s first attempt at using Fruity Loops.

    Overall verdict, Actually Bad.

  16. Wait .. her level of petty-ness is bad and she needs to "grow up", but you are hoping someone returns with something even more petty? wtf.

  17. No, they were just credited for the interpolation. It's what artists do (especially after "Blurred Lines") to avoid any lawsuits from anyone a song may sound like.

This is the first Taylor Swift I've ever heard on purpose. I grant I may have heard something on the radio or in the mall or something. But it's the first song I said, 'oh hey, let's check that out since everyone is talking about it.' And I don't say that to be a hipster cool guy who's too good for pop music; I say that to give the necessary context to my opinion:

    This song is real good.

Maybe it isn't what her old stuff is (hell if I know). But I listened expecting the apocalypse and heard a catchy pop song that'll be stuck in my head all day. Also I feel like it sounds like mid-2000s mall emo bands. If the verses were sung by Brendon Urie, I wouldn't blink.

So yeah. The song is fine. The song is good. People are weird for acting like the world is ending (not here. But elsewhere online that I've seen that caused me to hit play).

I don't actively listen to Taylor Swift but it's catchy and I liked it. Granted I'll be sick of this song in a month after hearing it everywhere but it's good. I also heard a little Baby Got Back along with My Humps and I'm Too Sexy.

She got caught in a lie and got pissed when it showed people what she's really like. I want him to bury her, this time just don't ask for permission. If she didn't play the victim card 200x in the last 8 years I'd have zero issue with her.

She is a great songwriter, or at least was, but her disingenuous nature is disturbing. From the Kanye feud, to Katy (she was the one that felt the need to go public on that), to her shocking silence on the election (even though she's such a feminist, or at least I thought). Everything with her is calcualted to a t.

Friendly reminder that none of us KNOW these people. We know what their publicity teams want us to know. Taylor and Kimye both benefit from this fiasco, and they're both incapable of just leaving each other be. No celebrity is "genuine" and it's so insane to think that. They're entertainers, and they're doing their jobs.
