TBS performing on a show that was hosted by Alex Turner's then-girlfriend is still wild to me, as a TBS and AM fan.

I always regret not going to see them back then. They played with Anberlin on that headlining tour and god I was such an idiot. At the time I was like “oh the shows over 30 bucks so that’s expensive for shows so I won’t go”. What a dumbie

I went to one of the Anberlin shows with fun. opening which is wild to think about in hindsight. They didn't tour a lot with that version of the line up (a few small runs prior to New Again dropping, then that summer tour with Envy on the Coast, some time out with Blink-182, and maybe a tour with AAR? in the states)

Of all the iterations of this band I've seen, I do think as far as stage presence goes (maybe not on a technical skill level), the most recent version with John and Shaun has been my favorite. There's something about the banter between Adam and John, or even the way Adam interacts with Shaun and Nathan on stage that just was missing when I saw them with the New Again line up. (I saw a couple of shows during the Louder Now cycle but don't remember much of what happened on stage so much as the Nassau Coliseum barricade thing)

Last time I saw them was the coin flip of louder now/WYWTB and Adam said he still uses an IPhone 5

Yep they definitely did a co-headlining arena tour with All American Rejects the Fall after New Again came out. I went to that show, and even though I was piss drunk I remember thinking the stage banter was lacking. Also remember TBS closed my show and there seemed to be a decent amount of people gone after AAR played.
Before that they did a leg of Blink's reunion tour. I went to two nights of that and both damn shows I got there late just as TBS were starting their last song....but I do remember both nights the people around me complaining that TBS seemed different than usual.

  9. First time I saw them was in 2002 with Brand New and Rufio at a tiny place with a stage like one or two feet high. And it was like $10. NO BIG DEAL.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet or not, but when comparing that statement against everything he posted/said over the last week or so and how different the overall tone is - it makes me wonder if TBS' management and legal team stepped in and made some sort of agreement between both parties that benefitted mark to stop all of the wild tagging/posts.

I haven't been following it super closely, so this idea doesn't mean much if he's already back to his usual reddit/IG posts, but something about the change of tone makes me think the "higher ups" got involved to some degree.

I feel like somebody had to have stepped in, whether it was somebody on his side or their management/legal team, because a lot of nasty comments on his posts from people in his "camp" were deleted as well. But yeah, the tone and just the general cohesion of the statement makes me think it was somebody handling it for him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had no idea half the things that happened this weekend because he was hiding in the woods and only reachable by tin cans connected with a string. He seems very offline.

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

I saw them in Philly with Anberlin and EOTC, and I feel like there was a decent amount of stage banter, and positive crowd reactions to Swing, Summer Man and EMG. Adam’s voice was pretty shot after they played EMG but it was still a great show. Don’t remember having a strong opinion on Anberlin’s set, but the EOTC set was so awesome

I agree. It definitely felt like someone either in his camp, their camp, or both told him - you don't want to go down this road. I wonder if any sort of financial aspect was brought in as well to tame it all?

Entertaining or not - a weird bummer all around.

I'm glad somebody stepped in—or he caught wind of what was going on on his behalf (if you believe that his friends were acting without his knowledge and were also all his friends and not burner accounts, hard to tell) and told people to knock it off. Whatever it is, I hope he finds whatever support he is looking for in his recovery and surrounds himself with people who won't leave nasty comments on his behalf. It's a shame to see him go after such a long tenure and everything he's endured with the lineup changes.

Adam is making the right move IMO especially because of the current state of the internet- and also other notable musicians seemingly being radicalized into alt right cancel culture posting that no one wants to see. Or becoming Max Bemis whatever his deal is

Yeah in my opinion the best and also the most funniest option and possibly the correct way to handle this is to not make any statements whatsoever

99.9% of TBS fans have no idea what’s even going on, nor probably even realized Mark hasn’t been with the band the past year.

It wouldn’t shock me at all if they don’t address this.
