Pretty cool to hear that they're seemingly such big fans of Alkaline Trio. Love when my favorite bands like each other.

Funnily enough, I can't see Matt or Dan being big TBS fans haha. Dan might be into their latest records that have more of that americana sound to it I suppose. Matt has wide tastes too so maybe he'd like TBS but he always seems to trend back to punk music the most.

Still sounds like we are still a ways away from a new album...Adam said they had some demos but haven't started pre-production or recording in a studio. Kind of talked a lot about the new album without saying much at all.

I was also there, they played a good set. We stood on the right side of the center sound booth and wore masks and screamed along baha

That’s weird, because I got the impression they went in the studio or something months ago after they abruptly stopped the Talking Back Sunday podcast. Hopefully more is going on behind the scenes than they’re letting on.

So at this point I just assume they are having writers block or just aren't happy enough with what they have to make it the next album. 6 years is pretty long for an active band to not have a new LP even with COVID taken into account.

The "Why can't I feel anything..." moment at their shows still always gives me chills every time I see them.

I had a blast at the 20 year anniversary shows, but I don’t need to see TAYF in full again. I literally saw it two nights in a row.

Atp do they even believe in their new material?
It’s like they release new albums iust so they tour TAYF

They're probably just as sick of playing TAYF as we are hearing it, but they don't make money on new material and (outside of this forum) people don't go to their shows for anything post-Louder Now.

They played Tidal Wave in full at that one tour, and there were a lot of confused people in the audience.

  20. I wish this was the norm for all bands:

Release a new album and then go on tour playing the album in full + hits

Then, when they go on tour after the official full album release tour, they do a standard setlist of the hits/deep cuts/whatever.

And then they do anniversary tours when it makes sense. 5 years, 10, 20, etc.

People getting sweaty over something they said at the spur of the moment on Reddit 7 years ago.

Edit: and that’s assuming the screen grab was recent. It’s possible it’s older.

And they played in super small clubs for that tour.

Can’t believe I skipped the TW shows, especially with how much I love that fucking album

One of my biggest concert regrets was not seeing them when they played TW in full.

Most bands I could give a single shit about how the crowd is reacting or how big or small a crowd is. I’m always more concerned about the band is going to make me feel. These guys clearly played TW in full for themselves. It’s a bold move, for sure, but I bet they had a damn blast doing it.

I feel like full album shows only work for nostalgic purposes. I enjoy Tidal Wave, but it kinda takes the magic out of a show when you know what song is coming next. Especially when the album has only been out for a couple of months and you haven't really associated it with specific memories yet.
