I feel like the Venn diagram of my favorite TBS songs and my favorite TBS bridges is nearly a complete circle. YKHID, Cute, Decade, 180, We Were Younger Then. All incredible.

 

I'll give some love to the bridge for It Doesn't Feel A Thing Like Falling. The rest of that song washes over me, but the bridge is solid.

 

They do write some good bridges huh

 

Like just going through TAYF, it's bop after bop in terms of bridges. Not sure if Great romances counts as a bridge considering the somewhat unique structure of the song, but the first four tracks, and then Ghostman throug hto Your So Last Summer.....the bridge in all these songs is close to being or is the best part of them haha.

 

Absolutely. They’ve always had a knack for writing killer bridges and/or outros. Usually my favorite part of their songs haha

Touring is going to come back just in time for a TAYF 20-year tour...

 

How come no one told me the Happiness Is b-sides fucking RULE?!?! Revisiting this album for the first time in a hot minute and I've always loved it. It has easily their best production to date.

Picking a favorite bridge on TAYF is impossible. Bike Scene/YKHID may be the top two tho

 

Still here for Louder Now, seems to be the album I revisit most.

As far as bridges, cliche, but Cute without the e represents the classic TBS bridge for me (despite, like others have said, not aging too well for mid 30s me)

 

They're already acknowledged that 20 year anniversary vinyl will be coming out. You cannot stop TAYF, you can only hope to contain it!

 

God I feel like they just did the 10 year tour. I am ancient.

 

They did the 10-year tour for TAYF in 2012 and then the 20-year tour as a band in 2019. If they really do a 20-year-tour for TAYF that’d be very, very sad.

 

God it really has been almost a full decade since that 10 year tour huh? fuck me lol

I’ve seen TAYF in full twice, would kill just to see half of WYWTB honestly

 

It just occurred to me that it’s the ten year of the self titled this year as well, which would mean when the self titled came out with the OG line up, that was a shorter distance of time away from TAYF, than ST is to now. These last ten years flew, whereas it felt like John and Shaun were not in the band for such a long time.

 

My friend and I had this exact conversation the other day! I can't believe it's been 10 years, I remember already feeling old when TAYF-era TBS reformed, and now it's been a full decade since that happened. I'd say they've put out an albums worth of material I truly enjoy over the last 3. I've still bought a ticket every time they come through town though, nostalgia is a powerful thing.

I’ve never been disappointed with their live show. Adam’s vocals can come and go through their set but they always have a great dynamic with the crowd and a fun stage presence. Definitely worth the ticket each time

 

TBS crowds have always been really fun in my experience. Even if the band isn’t on point, the crowd is singing so loudly it’s impossibe not to get into it.

They've been really solid live the last couple holiday shows. There was a period of time there when their live shows were pretty weak, like from 2010-2016 or so.

 

I'll never forget being so disappointed with their reunion show in Chicago. I still had fun, but it just did not compare to the Fred/Rubano and Fazzi/Rubano live shows prior to the reunion. I even saw these guys before John and Shaun left the band, but I didn't care about how they sounded back then. I was there for the emo rage energy, yelling, and mic swinging.

The reunion show in Chicago was WEIRD. At the meet and greet John was asked how long it took him to learn the solo in Error Operator. His response was, "It took me a long time. Fred is a phenomal player and songwriter so I hope I do him justice."

When they played the song John fake played the solo and Nathan played it while in the background haha. I could tell because I was right in front of John as he tried hiding it. My friend, who sucked at guitar, even noticed it..."Dude, he isn't even playing the part!". But what really disappointed me was John messing up his parts in, what's probably my favorite TBS song, 180 by Summer. Dude messed the lyrics and threw the crowd energy off during one of the best parts of the song because the crowd and John were singing different things lmao.

But seeing them after the Reunion show during S/T, Happiness Is, and Tidal Wave eras.....different story. John and the band were on it and were SO MUCH better than the reunion show. I will always try my best to see these dudes in a live setting.
