Did you go to the one-off they did at Jacobs Pavillion for the rib cookoff a year or so ago? That was the first time I felt awkward being at one of their shows.

Yeah. Literally nobody was there. That was so weird.

Totally makes sense why they schedule the novelty acts like Rick Springfield most days haha.

Yeah, the year prior to TBS playing that, it was Brett Michaels. My wife and I went for shits and giggles and the place was filled to the rafters for Brett. The TBS tickets were free for anyone who entered the rib cook off (bleacher seats) but TBS was charging $50 for the pit. I remember freaking out all day thinking there'd be a million people going and had anxiety all day thinking I wasn't going to be able to get in. Plus, I've seen them sell out Nautica before (granted, it was 2006 when they did that).

Remember Adam had everyone bumrush the gates that were blocking the pit because NO ONE was originally in the pit? I think the band was pissed that entire show. Adam didn't seem too engaged and was making sarcastic comments in between songs...at one point, I think he had said Cute without the E was about his grandmother prior to them playing it.

I took my wife, who was pregnant at the time to that show, she's not into TBS whatsoever but went anyway. She had a horrible time because the atmosphere was just so awful and uncomfortable.

I have a suspicion that maybe Eddie talked the band into doing that, since Eddie lives in Sandusky and maybe agreed to do the rib cookoff as a favor or something, because the band wasn't on tour at the time so it was kind of weird they did a one-off show at a rib cook-off. Funny thing is, the rib cook off was cancelled a year later.

Everything about that show was awkward haha. Your wife was probably thinking, "why the hell does my husband like this band" haha. I always felt like Eddie was the reason they did it. I also think AP might have been involved too depending on who was booking the events.

Adam having people rush the pit was fucking awesome

  7. I've seen TBS six or so times now and tonight may have been my favorite. Adam has never sounded better, and they looked like they were having a ton of fun playing the new songs. The crowd was pretty engaged and singing along for the new songs, but they really took off during the older stuff. If you have the chance and the means to get to this show, I definitely recommend it!

Except when they don't play an encore.

Wow, I was willing to splurge on stubhub tickets for this, but damn. That's a really disappointing setlist for a tour that was supposed to have songs they rarely play. Was hoping for something totally out there, like Brooklyn, Sleep, or (and this is a total pipe dream) Follow the Format.

  10. Eh, they already left stage once after the Tidal Wave set, I wasn't expecting them to come back on.

Was supposed to go to the Cleveland date but looking like I'm gonna have to miss it since my ride bailed (after I already bought 3 tickets for everyone.....). And I can't even try and sell them on fucking Stub Hub because it makes me enter a credit card but refuses to accept it even though it is valid and all the info is accurate. Woulda really liked to have seen the show since I'm really loving Tidal Wave!

I could be wrong, but I swear it was public knowledge that this tour would be Tidal Wave in full, and then old stuff. I can't seem to find anything on the twitter machine, but I went to the record release show at the Metro, and knew at least the week prior that they were playing the new album in full.

Regardless, it was a ballsy move, but I really enjoyed it. Listened to the album all day Friday and knew enough of the words that it was entertaining. Like others mentioned, the crowd wasn't super into it, but that was to be expected less than 24 hours after the albums release.

It was crazy though, as soon as the first guitar strum of Cute without the 'E', the crowd went bonkers. Fun show in a small setting.

I think John said in a podcast that they would be performing the entire new album, but there was never an official announcement made by the band about it. The only thing they said was "longer sets," so I think people were disappointed that the longer set just meant the new album.

This is the third time in a row this has happened to me. So over "friends" right now lol And it always happens like a week before the show which makes it so hard to find someone else to go.

Just buy one ticket for yourself. It's to the point where I would prefer going to shows alone. I have to buy the tickets, pick up my friends, drop them off at home, and they are usually lame at concerts anyways.

I can't drive sooooo I'm kinda fucked lol If I could I would happily go to shows alone, especially because they always try and leave early and I feel like I don't have as much fun.

Anyone know how many songs they play at the in-stores performances? My friend is going to the one today in Milwaukee.

I'm married and have a ton of friends, but I'll still go to shows by myself if I know no one else is into the band/artist. I have no problems with doing that and would rather go by myself than talk the wife or a friend into going. Just went to a show by myself last week.

Good on you. No sense missing your favorite band because you have no one to go with you. I guess at some point you just don't care. I started wearing a fanny pack to festivals.
