    "That's just silly"

Loved the "Flicker, Fade" bit. I think these videos just prove that John Nolan needs rebbe featured more than he is in a lot of these songs.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they ever did a replay.

I think they only keep it up for 24 hours. At least, that's how it's been in the past.

Random thought after many listens, I think this record has the most natural sounding dual vocals. As much as I love that aspect of the band, it can come off forced in some of the older songs and on in this record it never really does.

listened to the discog last night, heres some random thoughts for those that give even half a shit

Catholic Knees might be my favorite song by them

The Blue Channel and 180 By Summer are also stellar, stellar songs. They kind of sound like Thursday songs in a way.

Louder Now is my least favorite album as a whole, but tracks like Spin and Up Against are some of the highest highs in their catalog imo.

I forget how dark and aggressive NA is. Its a great fit for them.

from a pure songwriting perspective, the S/T is pretty stellar. From a production standpoint, its asswater. Much like ETIDs Gutter Phenomenon.

Happiness Is was a really good album, but I think Tidal Wave is a better version of it with some of the bands best songs.

I Felt It Too is easily a top 5 song for me now. Death Wolf and In The Middle Of It All are also excellent songs. Very WYWTB feel to them.

TAYF and WYWTB are definitely my two favorites, depending on the day I'd pick either or. Right now I've been really feeling TAYF, but honestly theyre both two of the best albums to come from that early emo scene.

These guys have some killer b-sides, with the S/T and NA era b-sides really stealing the show. That said, Brooklyn is probably their best b-side and one of their best songs.

This band can write a fucking KILLER bridge.

Late on the ranking game, but here it goes from best to worst:

    New Again
    Louder Now
    Happiness Is
    Self Titled
    Where You Want To Be
    Tell All Your Friends
Tidal Wave (because I have not spent much time with it at all)

I loved watching them play the whole record. You can tell how important this record is to them. They're clearly so invested.

from watching the short film, you can tell that john is the brains behind the music in this band. Sounds like he came up with a lot of the music and lyrics for this album. You can hear him playing his version of fences, and it also sounds like he sings a verse in holy water that adam ended up singing on the record.

I will say that John's vocals in this album are pretty damn good. Always have been a fan of his vocals though. And Adams. So parts like the ending of holy water, the end of middle, etc get me every time

jay and silent bob are raging inside me

It has been awesome hearing each album since they returned to the TAYF lineup. each album they've stepped up and you can tell Tidal Wave is something they are extremely proud of. You can hear it when you listen to the album, how they've been performing it live and how they talk about it. I enjoy it more and more each listen

    Newbie

I really wish this album had fared better commercially because it really is their best complete body of work, in my opinion. Hopeless definitely dropped the ball on marketing. There's no way in heck that a band that consistently cracks the top 10 every album release should have their best body of work only hit #36 and then fall completely off the charts soon afterwards. Tragic.

Yep. Someone needs to get fired. Same thing happened with Bayside. Although Bayside never cracked Top 10, their last four of five albums charted better than their last and I think Cult got up to 20 at one point. Vacancy debuted at 57, which was their worst debut since Self-titled. Inexplicable.

Yeah it makes me worried it's going to discourage them from following this new sound, or worse.

    Cursed by my ancestry

I have the same fear. Particularly because it's similar to the reason they don't play El Paso live anymore. I would hate to see them react the same way for an entire album.
