That's fair. If they're playing it live in a lower key it's sort of an admission that they should have recorded it that way. The intensity could have been there even if things were tuned down half a step. Who knows, maybe they tried both in the studio and just liked the way it sounded higher up. I'd love to see a behind-the-scenes of that album and this one to compare and contrast the approaches.

I think I've told this story once or twice before, but I will again now because I love it and there's a new album.

My best friend and I saw TBS in 2016 on the re-birthed Taste of Chaos. We had early entry because of some work thing and the people working the show weren't super familiar with the pass system, so they just let us in way before they were supposed to. We literally wound up helping a couple of the crew lock in the barricades down in front, so we just figured we'd stay there and see Saosin and TBS up close.

It was a fun afternoon, the bands were good, we had a good time. TBS came on. Adam was chatting to people in the front. He took particular exception to my friend, in a very joking manner, because he was pretty stoic. He's not the sing-along, go-crazy type. He just likes to take in the show. He was actually a really big fan of the band and knew all the songs, but Adam called him out, essentially surmising that this was a nostalgia show and he must be just into the big songs. When they played those staples, my friend's demeanor didn't change, which caused Adam to turn it up even more. He said he must've been there for Dashboard Confessional. Which was hilarious, because we weren't even sticking around for their set.

He continued to rib him for the entire show. Told him he was hurting his ego, etc. My friend was kind of stuck, because it's hard to explain to the frontman of a band from the pit that you're actually really into them, you just don't move around a lot! We've been making fun of him for it ever since.

To this day, Adam doesn't know that the poor guy was actually a big fan. I don't think he's been on a barricade since.

hey man, I appreciate you, and I'm sorry that people have said shitty things (seriously, not being sarcastic, that sucks).

My post was not directed at exclusively you and really not even exclusively at this thread, it just felt like something I wanted to say. It's like we're all in a conversation at a party, and I'm just trying to keep things more on the positive than the negative. One thing can be talked up as good without other things needing to be torn down as bad.

I'm having a weird week and probably just talking on the internet too much.

There are definitely some elements from 152 can be found on on HI and TW. The songs that feel the most similar to me are All The Way, Fences, and All Excess. They have some of the airy guitar tones and electronic elements that are more prominent here. I don't think those songs would fit on this, but it seems like Tushar Apte knew the band had it in them to play with that sound and pushed them to go further with it.

Read in an interview that Tidal Wave is Tushar Apte's favorite album of all-time and he wanted to expand on that sound.

I did not read in an interview that Tidal Wave is Tushar Apte's favorite album of all-time and he wanted to expand on that sound. I made it up.

Amphetamine Smiles, Keep Going, Lightbringer and Juice 2 Me feel like the standouts here, the rest doesn't really excite me at all, but nothing is bad

While it does make me genuinely sad that people passionately hate an album that I love, the shit posting of New Again on here will always crack me up, from both ends of the aisle. I fully welcome the love AND the hate.

My fave TBS memory is refreshing AP.net in Switzerland in an Internet cafe when John and Shaun were leaving — the news section scrolled, which will forever be my GOAT design. Also, my first listen of WYWTB was over the phone.

I learned how to be a true Internet pirate because WYWTB leaked and the only place I could find it was on IRC, that took me down a long rabbit hole for the next 10 years.

Hearing the singles I had low expectations for this album, with the exception of S'Old, but I'm really enjoying 152. The last 3 tracks might be the best run they've had in multiple albums.

I love every single track here. However, it’s still weird to hear everyone’s favorites because Keep Going and IATOOWKY are my clear standouts, no contest.

I can't get enough of Keep Going. I've tried to go back to the new blink a couple times and I have to switch back to this album pretty quickly
