I love the new album and am terribly lukewarm on Tidal Wave overall. But, I still think it’s pretty fair to say this builds off aspects of what they were doing the last couple albums.

 

Hard to agree when I think they went from making really bad songs to then making really good songs.

 

Good things can have similarities to bad things! lol.

 

The list of bands who made a bad album and good album in the same style is literally endless

 

This is like trying to tell me Far from Home is like Spider-Verse because they both have a Peter Parker in them. You might technically be correct, but I also think you're spider-shit-crazy.

 

I choose to just be happy Jason loves a TBS album and am not gonna push the issue lol

 

Except it's not "the same style" by their own words, goal, and the outcome of an album not sounding like Tidal Wave and Mike Sapone! Small details.

 

Oh wow they said that? Now I'm definitely convinced

 

God damn disservice to the life Tushar Apte breathed into this band it put in the same air as that garbage.

 

I guess I just think that this album is much closer to Tidal Wave than Tidal wave is to Happiness Is. It's less of a jump.

 

I think Tidal Wave is one of the worst albums I've ever heard. Truly unlistenable dreck. This sounds nothing like that.

 

I agree with the first part of your post for sure! This album is much better.

But Lightbringer could easily fit on Tidal Wave. It reminds me of You Can't Look Back

Even though I'm a fan of both albums I really don't think anything on this one feels like Tidal Wave to me.

it's a real bummer not feeling like there's any air in the room to have a discussion here, in a forum for that purpose. idk what it is about TBS threads in particular that just demands we all regurgitate the same takes constantly and talk at each other in circles but it does a real good job of souring me on a band I like a lot! so I'm just gonna bow out basically lol, catch you all in 7 years for the next round of this

 

Does anyone else feel like singing "I'm gonna get you if it takes me all night long" during the prechorus of Lightbringer? Am I nuts?

 

I mean going into the album thread to compare 152 to Tidal Wave is kinda choosing violence, everyone knows what they're doing lol

 

Im genuinely saying that I like what TBS did here and wish they leaned into it harder, that's all haha

 

We were spoiled this month. Definitely up there in the best release months ever conversation.

 

I still can't believe my two favorite bands put out new albums within a week from each other

 

I haven't listened to Tidal Wave so I don't have any opinion on that album.

But if it sounds anything remotely like this album, it can't be good.

 

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that this is my favorite 31 minute album

No I'm not researching that any further

 

Hmmm I've never ranked my favorite albums by length. Interesting.

I wonder if there's an easy way to research this.
