wtf I did not know that was a thing but I need it now

 

It wasn't a thing until this morning!

 

Game night check in.

Short night, Startups and the Rotten Tomatoes Card Game were the only new to me games. Startups was a fucking delight and is maybe one of the only times I've seen a game play significantly under the playtime on the box. Our games ended within 10 minutes at 5 players, awesome looking game.

RT Card Game was fine? Not a lot to it, but I like trying to flex my inane movie knowledge.

Coup and Splendor are still reliable as ever.

 

I miss Splendor

 

I really enjoyed my play of Startups.

 

Just managed to get a copy of World Wonders, hopefully it lives up to the hype I've given it in my head.

 

Got so annoyed yesterday when GameNerdz actually had something on my wishlist as their Deal of the Day (Small World of Warcraft), I always try to check their store when it gets posted at 12 but I didn't check until it was 12:13 and it was already sold out.

Cool place to get boardgames though

It's one of my favorites of the year! I can't wait for more Wonders to be released.

 

gonna meet up for a game of Root tonight. For as much as I love the game, I pretty much never get it to the table. Asymmetrical wargames are time consuming, and I still only know how to play less than half of the factions, even though I've owned the base game and two expansions for over 3 years lol

 

Took some pics of the collection after I finally cleared off shelf space.

The only games completely obscured from what I can't tell are two Cartographers games and That's So Clever/Clever 4 Ever.

Just booked a room for Sunday to play Scythe with buddies after church

 

Scythe is a goodie, I should check out Expeditions at some point.

 

I’ve never played but always heard good things!

I was watching a video of just setup which was like 30 minutes ace holy shit are there a ton of pieces and rules

 

I haven't played in quite awhile but trying to teach a group of 7 players, 6 of which were new to the game, Scythe is probably my biggest boardgame horror story. A headache inducing near 3 hours of telling each player what they could do on each turn.

This probably could have been mitigated by me being a better teacher but I've always sucked ass at teaching games

 

Lots of bangers, and still in shrink! How's Everdell? Really been wanting to try that one

 

Honestly most of my stuff still in shrink has probably not been played in general. I think Tyrants of The Underdark (straight banger), Lost Ruins of Arnak (Loved my one play on BGA) and Fallout (probably one of the most disappointing games I've played though I heard the co-op expansion makes it better). I have played the first, like, two missions of Pandemic Legacy Season 1 when it first came out with a splinter group from my old boardgame group but the vibes were off so I'm eager to give it a shot again.

Everdell is a game I backed on KS but then moved a few months after acquiring it so I didn't have anyone to play it with until recently after getting back into the hobby.

Main goal is to get at least half of these unopened games to the table this year.

 

Do you have a group of friends that you play with regularly?

 

I started hosting a biweekly game night with my coworkers in Sundays last summer, but since they are all newer players I usually keep the games pretty light.

I've also started to go weekly to a boardgame bar with a friend or two on Saturdays and that's been a nice atmosphere, I usually try to buy a game or two just to support them, which is easier than the other local stores I've frequented before because the prices are actually competitive with what I can buy online.

 

I’m hoping to meet up with a group on Monday for some games. I feel like I haven’t played much in a week or two.

 

Only had time to fit in a game of Dominion and Lost Ruins of Arnak; Arnak only took 75 minutes with a group of 3 which was a nice surprise.

Picked up the Stonemaier version of Libertalia to support the Boardgame bar as well.

 

I need to play Arnak again. Such a great game.

 

Its really impressive, pretty light but every decision feels super significant.

Recently ordered Lucidity and Tokaido on Mercari but they haven't been shipped yet

 

Tokaido is a lovely little game, I should pick up a copy some time, I've only ever played it digitally.
