The specific clip is what was offputting to me, not that it was a scene instead of a traditional trailer. I’m a fan of that choice in general.

 

I think Mike and Nancy's parents are very underrated side characters so I'm all for having them involved in funny little side stories. Mrs. Wheeler being flirty with the young hot California guy is funny to me. I hope there's some more fun moments with Ted this season too.



I feel like Ted Wheeler sometimes because I constantly have to yell "language!" at my students lol

 

Oh yeah, I’ve seen it! It’s amazing. By first teaser I meant “first teaser scene” I guess.

 

That storyline is such a bad look, and Karen deserves better. I was worried about how much focus it would get from the first trailer, but devoting an entire video to it as the first major promo in a while? Oof.

 

Everything about Billy is over the top and cringey to me.

 

I think they tried to make him the Steve that could have been for sure. We’re so lucky that they fell in love with Joe Keery enough to save that character.

 

I like him as an antagonist. Plus, I have a soft spot for that Power Rangers movie that came out a couple years ago.

 

The perfect 80s villain.

 

Karen constantly gets ignored and underappreciated by Ted, I'm cool with her getting some cheap thrills. I don't think it'll ever progress past the harmless flirting and oogling so I'm okay with it for now. If they try and make it more than just the mom squad checking out the dude I'll prob hate it though.

ANd yeah Billy is clearly an over the top trope but this show leans hard into some of that stuff.

 

That is EXACTLY what I’m afraid they will do. Just having a few throwaway moments would be whatever, but I’m not into how hard the idea is being pushed. This is one old trope that they’d definitely be better off leaving in the past.

I would love for Karen to get an actual story outside the family though. Or just dump Ted since he’s the worst.

 

Over the top or not, I think Dacre Montgomery kills it. I didn’t think Billy added much to S2 but I was very impressed by his performance.

 

I have a feeling between Billy being a life guard, what we see in the trailer, and what one of the episodes is titled, that he won't be around long enough to make anything happen haha

i enjoyed Billy filling the Zabka-like stereotype role last season. only thing i didn't really like was the scene trying to humanize him with the abusive dad. if you're gonna have so blatantly of an over-the-top villain like billy, you just gotta lean into him being a caricature.
