So I asked my wife a week ago what her Vecna song would be and she said she wasn’t sure and would have to give it some thought. As it’s been a week I forgot I even asked and probably assumed in the back of my mind that she just forgot like I did.

That is until about ten minutes ago when she turned to me and said “so I finally figured out what my Vecna song would be. I really had to think about it. Now that I know, I really know and you know what it is too. Ever since I was a little kid it has always drawn me in because I loved the movie so much and the song just does something to me.” She then told me what it was and I laughed because, yeah, she has always loved this song and I used to playfully rib her for it even though I do like the song. Anyway, my wife was an absolutely huge fan of Fly Away Home when she was a kid and she actually spent the last week giving the question some serious thought. Press play on this song and she quite literally gets goosebumps. Now I’m having an even harder time trying to figure mine out.

Using Euphoria as an example, it became a pop-culture phenomenon because of the discourse about what happened in each episode- the memes, fan theories and arguments each week really pushed that into more than just a TV Show, but into an actual pop culture moment that comes by so rarely. I understand why people like that model, and why it's better for fandom-building.

However, I just enjoy shows so much less on the week-to-week model, because I just grow to dread the episode ending. Like that last 10-20 minutes is just pure hell that makes it impossible to focus, because I'm already stressing out about what I have to do once the episode ends. Like, in an era of 8-Hour YouTube Reviews of Nickelodeon Sitcoms, having to watch shows in little 44-minute chunks feels so odd.

Took a while to get going and it's definitely the weakest and sloppiest season yet but.... still enough moments to make it very enjoyable.

Theres a lot of negatives though. They definitely stretched themselves way out with LOST level of different subplots happening at once. I feel like we haven't seen Mike and Will in a very long time. Maybe we will see what happens next but getting Hopper out of Russia took too much screen time. The stoner guy was awful. Theres also just not a lot of touching, memorable moments happening anymore either.

Max's episode was the one of the bright spots when it came to having one of those moments.

Still. With all of its faults, the characters are such mainstays and the atmosphere is still there, so it's still overall a very solid show.

I’d have to do a full rewatch to figure out how I’d rank the seasons, but so far season 4 feels like the most I've enjoyed the show since season 1.

I just spent my first two hours at 'work' catching up on this thread.

This season has been great so far. Hard for me to compare to the first three seasons, because I can barely remember them.

I love binge watching as much as the next person, but it does suck to miss out on the weekly discussions, theories, explanations, etc. It definitely takes away from the overall experience, imo. The first show I ever binge-watched was Twin Peaks - when I bought the box set 17 or so years ago. I remember dying inside not being able to go online without fear of reading spoilers (specifically IMDB message boards, RIP) to read about particular episodes or read into theories (especially for such a mind fuck show).

I rewatched 3 right before this. Loved 3 a lot. Good vibe, good setting.

I just think there's too much going on and it feels a little like we're just rehashing the same things over and over again. There's like 5 subplots happening at once and I think we've strayed too far from the path of what made the show great in the first place.

I will say the new bad guy is great though

This season was fine, felt like they tried to cram entirely too much in, but really loved how they did Ep7. Couldnt stand Robin’s character this season. Felt like they had nothing new for her to offer so she just became the comic relief in a show thats already funny enough to not need it.

I for whatever reason really thought this was the final season…

I enjoyed the season, but I think those are valid critiques. I'm still not quite sure where this lands for me.

Thats definitely how i’d rank it right now. Really wish eddie was more involved too. Feel like he ends up sacrificing himself somehow.

Well there’s still a scene from the trailer we haven’t seen yet that seems like maybe Eddie is setting up as bait for something, so

It hasn’t felt very overstuffed to be, but I DO think they woulda been better off keeping certain plots together instead of going back to them multiple times an episode. Like it gets a little whiplash-y. Doesn’t ruin it for me but does make it feel choppy at times.

I don’t think the plot felt overstuffed but at times the characters did if that makes sense.
