At least they’re not a year apart. My guess is they don’t want people to binge everything in the first few days and then discussion online dies down in just a few weeks so they’re trying to extend it further into the summer.

I also think, the way they worded it, it sounds like they're not gonna be done editing/post production/etc on the whole season by May 27th so they're just releasing the ones they should be done on by then and giving themselves a little extra time to get the back half done

Totally. This feels like Netflix is feeling left out of the weekly hype train that some of the other services are managing.

Doing it a month a part is weird. Feels like they wanna do weekly episodes (maybe subscriber numbers are worrying enough they wanna get people to stick around for 2 months instead of 1) but not doing weekly episodes has kinda been there thing so they do this weird half measure that really is the worst of both worlds.

    Things have changed.

As soon as they knew the show was going to be a hit, they needed to double-film subsequent seasons to avoid the kids trying to play way younger than believable. Overly simplistic solution but Netflix has the budget. C'est la vie.

  13. She-Ra seasons 2&3 combined were the same length as every other season. Was that a case of them splitting seasons and they just didn't label it S2pt1 and S2pt2?

Yes, that's exactly what that was. Voltron did the same thing during its run.

I mean, "the beginning of the end" implied a penultimate season. They just weren't filmed together.

Super exciting news though. A longer season is definitely not what I was expecting and way more exciting.

I mean am I the only one who doesn’t give a shit if the kids look older? Honestly who the hell cares. Y’all watched Ferris Bueller and Cameron was 30 when filming. Who gives a shit

I think the kids not being kids anymore is going to just add more weight to the first two seasons. If the show can't go beyond the initial draw of it being centered around kids, it's cause the show itself isn't good enough, not because the actors got older.

they could presumably do a time jump to their junior year of high school for season 5, and you'd have a bunch of 19-23 year olds playing 17 year olds, so that's not really that unrealistic.

Right now they're 17-20 year olds playing 15 year olds...still not that bad tbh

Yeah, 17 - 20 year olds playing 15 year olds isn't that bad. I've seen stranger things in Disney shows.

I mean a movie where high schoolers are all played by older actors is one thing. A tv show set over many years while not progressing the same time in the show does hit differently. I’ll reserve judgment until I see them in action and how old they’re supposed to be now.
