Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

This was a great record to spin while I worked out yesterday. Will probably hold a spot in my top 10 this year. Extremely nostalgic sound obviously. I do still think their initial run of singles was better than any songs on the LP.

Band is great. A bunch of them used to be in a band called Galleries which was a bit more of a standard hardcore group, then they dissolved and became Static Dress.

Kinda reminds me of a mix of The Bled meets Senses Fail in parts with a modern twist. These guys are really gonna go places.

A couple songs in and I already feel like I've time travelled to 2008, a time when my entire mp3 player was filled with this very specific type of post-hardcore (From First To Last, Hopesfall, Chasing Victory, Dead Poetic, Chiodos, Finch, Senses Fail, and many more acts). I never knew I needed this dose of nostalgia right now, but I'm 100% eating it up.

It helps that you don't really hear stuff like this anymore, so that somehow makes it stand out even more. Plus the songwriting is strong enough to not make it sound derivative, or like they're simply cosplaying. The mostly non-linear song structures play in their favor as well as it makes this a less predictable listen than you would expect close to two decades past this genre's heydays.

edit: Yep I'm into the whole thing a lot. I wouldn't mind if this brings them success and this ignites some kind of revival. I'd totally catch a tour with SeeYouSpaceCowboy too!

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

yeah my initial misgivings kinda disappeared and I just love this whole thing now. Disinter and such a shame maybe a little less, but they're still good

absolutely in love with fleahouse tho, my god. it's like everything I love about early Glassjaw summed up in a song without all the gross lyrics

Man, this band should be huge and touring the states too. I hope word of mouth travels fast with this, absolutely love it. Top album of the year for me so far.

Their vocalist Olli Appleyard did guest vocals on Alligator Blood the other night for BMTH's Malta Weekender.

Pretty much all I’ve been listening to since it dropped. Love how sassy and groovy it is. Love every track but some tracks that grew on me a lot were Lye Solution and Courtney

For anyone really digging the throwback/mid 00s post-hardcore sound these guys are going for here, you might also like If I Die First who are also relatively new.

Two EPs out so far along with a split with SeeYouSpaceCowboy. Lil Lotus is in the band as well as two members of From First To Last.

I'm not sure who owns this thread and/or can edit its title, but it's "Rouge" and not "Rogue". ;)
