Finished Master & Apprentice last night and loved it. Not as good as Claudia Gray’s other 3 books but that’s just a testament to how great those were as well. Really enjoyed all the stuff about prophecies and the Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan relationship. Claudia Gray does a great job of bringing all the themes together in the end for a great climax that really shows how the characters have grown or been challenged. If you’re a fan of the Prequel Jedi, this is really a must read.

Gonna read Ken Napzok’s new book before jumping into my backlog.

The prophesy stuff was really intriguing. Watching the prequels, it always made it seem like it was something every Jedi just seemed to (basically) believe in. It’s way more intriguing that Qui-Gon was a bit on the fringe, which really makes sense with his character and his relationship with the council.

Totally agree. I also really liked the idea that The Force means for the prophecies to be misinterpreted to set up their fulfillment. That ties really well with Anakin as The Chosen One in the prequels.

Right?! Some incredible nuance dealing with the prophecies that I wasn’t expecting at all.

I had no idea a woman designed this poster. Pretty amazing.

Just preordered this “mysterious” comic. I’ve done a lot of orders and preorders on Amazon (literally every Star Wars volume) and never seen one so secretive. Maybe it’s the Allegiance comic but that’s been announced so I’m thinking not. Idk, kinda cool though.

Still one of my favorite posters from the whole series.

Started listening to Dooku: Jedi Lost and it’s not bad, but it’s strange because it’s like Harry Potter, but starring Young Dooku. Not the character I would have thought to tell this type of story.

Who knows what to make of this story but it’s very intriguing... her credits are a bit hit or miss. I did enjoy Altered Carbon so we shall see how this shakes out!

I am very excited about a KOTOR movie.

Hmmmmm. I love KOTOR a shit ton, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not looking for a KOTOR remake in film. Make it canon again, make more games (I wish), and let this series be adjacent to that and branch off and tell new stories.

Old Republic era films would be great. Lots of room for creators to create in an era that’s ripe for storytelling. I hope that’s whats actually going on here, Old Republic timeline rather than an adaption of the game. Would rather not retread an, albeit great, already told story.

Also on a somewhat related note, I will not be able to handle all the “fans” bitch about Disney “fucking ruining KOTOR”. I would have to quit the internet.

I definitely agree that a huge amount of the appeal for me would just be getting a movie set back in that Old Republic era. A new story set then would be absolutely amazing, but if it takes a film version of the KOTOR storyline to make it happen, I am all for it. For all the talk of branching out and telling new stories with the movies, the two non-Episode movies so far have been very closely tied to the movies we already have. I want some new and out there stuff in the movies that makes the galaxy / universe seem bigger as opposed to always making it seem so small.

Agree with a lot of this. Biggest reason I think a KOTOR remake would be less excite-able is everyone will go into it knowing the “No, I am your father” moment (you know which one I refer to). The story is already so fleshed out. It’s true we knew a lot of outcome to the spinoffs, but those are spinoffs and this is essentially a new saga.

That said, if the first film is KOTOR and the rest of the films follow Revan as opposed to KOTOR2.... ok maybe I’d sit through a film I know every beat of to get to that story. But again, I’d prefer new story.

I’m torn as to whether or not I’d want a straight up KotOR adaptation. They’d have to really work on turning the main character from a cypher into an interesting 3 dimensional character

I have never played the KOTOR, so I've never been super attached to the story in it. Everything I know about it makes me interested in the era though. That being said, the article only says that a screenplay is being based on the KOTOR not adapted directly from it. I'm sure it'll have some similarities and possibly have characters lifted directly from it, but I have doubts about whether it would be a straight adaptation.

I’ve always kinda viewed those two words (based, adapted) as pretty interchangeable, at least when viewed in marketing on a consumer level. I could see a scenario as you described as being a possibility for sure. I guess we’ll see!

Finished listening to Dooku: Jedi Lost and it was ok. It didn’t need to be an audiobook only and I wasn’t a fan of how Dooku ultimately left the Order because it comes off as more outside factors that pulled him out rather than his own choice (losing the weird dark side proof bandages and a random monster). The first half with him at the academy was cool though and worth the time. Some interesting Ventress stuff too.
