Doooooooope. I find out Friday night when I get to go! They may not allow us to take pictures so that's kind of a bummer. I hope they're selling stuff though, I need Ahsoka's lightsabers. Her reaction on the Star Wars show stage to them was everything.

 

I realize I just said Ahsoka then said her when referring to Ashley. They are inseparable in my mind.

 

Finished Master and Apprentice, starting Jedi Lost. Really stoked to get some Dooku backstory.

 

I ended up never starting Master and Apprentice lol Im back to Harry Potter. How was it though?

 

I enjoyed it, the narration was surprisingly good. He did a killer Dooku, much better than the one I'm hearing in Jedi Lost so far which A) doesn't make sense since it's a full cast and B) is a bummer. Anyways. As for the book/content itself, it gave a lot of interesting back story to both Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan/Dooku and Qui-Gon's relationship, as well as an interesting look into the Jedi counsel. There are some things I wish would have unfolded a little differently that I won't mention for spoiler sake, but overall I'm "excited" to watch The Phantom Menace this weekend with new knowledge of the characters.

 

Apparently the 2022, 2024, and 2026 films are for the trilogy that the GoT writers are creating.

I'm going to fucking Star Wars Land on May 26th! I can't wait to write about it. Jesus this is a dream come true.

 

The next set of SW films are indeed coming from Benioff and Weiss, Iger just confirmed.

That third one has gotta be Obi Wan right ha

 

Happy face to third series. Sad face to probably no more RJ Star Wars. Still a chance that they are announced just later, but I doubt it at this point and will continue under that presumption so I’m not super bummed if it’s announced.

The bright side is that RJ will probably live a happier less stressful life and be able to make more films and make his art less impeded by big studio interference/fan expectations

 

There's no reason to think that just because Rian Johnson's films haven't been given release dates doesn't mean they're not happening

 

They can still happen....after 2026

 

A 3 year break after TROS is nice

 

I'm still optimistic Rian's trilogy will happen. IX will probably kill it at the box office, which I could see convincing them to go back to the once a year model. Also, if Knives Out does well (as @Dodger said) I think they'll definitely want to keep him onboard.

I'm sure Disney can get a lot of people in the theater with the marketing of "from the creators of Game of Thrones comes a new Star Wars trilogy", but I am still 100 percent more interested in whatever Rian would create.

 

But wild speculation is so much more fun.

I haven’t seen any other tweets where Iger stated this specifically from the call but I think it obviously goes without saying. They clearly have tons in development that we no absolutely nothing about

 

They could also be holding back on announcing everything. There may be a 2023, 2025, and 2027 series that just isn’t ready for dates yet. As time went on, that list got thinner and thinner so it’s definitely not exhaustive. Rian did say a few months ago he was returning to Star Wars after Knives Out.

 

I honestly think they could wait at least 10 more years and Ewan would still look younger than Guinness did in ANH.

 

This is actually misquoted. He was talking about Marvel when he mentions the half dozen or so films.

In regards to Star Wars, he says "and we haven't said anything more beyond what we've announced is the next film. And we haven't given much detail about that." Which, while nothing concrete, definitely sounds like there's more in the works.

So back to only GoT Star Wars films for the next 7 years? With Disney+ shows that should be enough. I’d honestly rather see more Star Wars shows exploring different parts of the universe than film trilogies focusing on a single narrative and set of characters.

 

I'd still prefer a Rian Johnson series of movies, but he does have a strong track record with tv too. I'd be cool with giving him a Disney+ series.

 

These are totally goofy but I love them! Hasbro re-released the first vintage SW figures and I was lucky enough to get the whole wave at Target today. They are in the men’s clothing section (for Father’s Day I guess?).
