I have some friends that don't care about Star Wars anymore after TLJ but I know 100% they'll be seeing Ep IX.

Yeah, well he says he won't be seeing it in theaters, but knowing him, I can't imagine that he actually follows through with that. Although, he didn't see Solo in theaters.

Not that I don’t believe you but it’s hard to believe he’s a huge fan and not at least excited about the Mandalorian or the B&W series. I assume he’ll get back on board

    Also did he like TFA?

I'm willing to guess that a full 5% or less of the people who cried and whined and complained about TLJ will actually follow through with not seeing this movie. They'll all be there opening weekend.

He liked TFA a lot and absolutely loves Rogue One and was there for midnight showings for all of these, but is more a Luke fan in general than a Star Wars fan, I guess you could say. He didn't like seeing his movie hero go down that path and was let down and feels like this next movie just isn't what Star Wars is "supposed" to be.

I'm not sure if he's even interested in the shows either.

I do tend to think that Luke's arc in TLJ would have been easier for more people to accept if it wasn't for the 30-year time jump. A movie showing Luke's failure in his attempt to rebuild the Jedi Order would've been cool and would have made the transition to where he is in TLJ more understandable for sure.

But at the same time, we got plenty of information about why Luke feels the way he does in TLJ and Hamill's performance really conveys Luke's psychological state perfectly. So while all we need to get it is already in TLJ, I do agree it would have been cool to see what happened for ourselves. But for that to have happened there would have had to be a plan for the new Episodes before they just went ahead and started making them.

I feel like it's obvious, but what are the chances the marketing for this emphasizes "the end"?

  10. They can go back and fill in the blanks with books which might be a better medium to do all of that

As much as that sucks and I totally understand that feeling and think its totally fine to feel that way, I do love how that reaction people have to Luke reaffirms one of the movies themes.

All I really care about is finally getting a shot of Kyle Katarn in the new trailer.

Yeah, I totally understand that feeling as well, but I'm glad that I'm not one of those people, haha

Also the Legends of Luke Skywalker book (while Ive only read half of it) portrays the Luke everybody wanted. He WAS that dude up until Kylo turned

I bought that on Kindle for like $1 but haven't read it. I was a little worried that it'd be too juvenile so glad to see another adult reading it

Your friend sounds a lot like me! This trailer could make it real for me again, esp since they have JJ back.

so its a collection of second hand stories about Luke. The first one, "The Wayward Current" literally made me mad and skipped through a lot of it. The ending of it is great though that I recommend after you at least suffer through some of it . The second one I loved. Read it. Fishing In The Deluge is one of my favorite Star Wars stories ever and basically is an encapsulation of how I feel about the Force and that philosophy. Its necessary Star Wars in my opinion. I skipped the next two as I heard they werent great. But the Big Inside (last story) is also great. The half of the book I read I absolutely love

The music has a legit argument for being the best thing about Star Wars as a whole, haha
