I’m reading Padmes new book and without getting into much it’s a huge focus of hers when first getting into the Senate to change the republics policy with slaves because of Shmi and actually tries to free her

I have never read any of the Star Wars books except for two of the movie novelizations, but I have always wanted to because of how much I love the universe and the mythology.

I highly recommend Bloodline by Claudia Gray if you do decide to start. Leias the main character and will make you fall more in love with her. It’s set six years before TFA and basically highlights a lot of how the galaxy is in the place it’s in. It’s the best example of SW politics done right that I’ve experienced. Still my favorite book of the 8 I’ve read.

Granted if you are more a fan of the Force and lore aspects I haven’t read many of those books yet and somebody could point you to one of those.

There have been some really great ones. I'll echo the love for Bloodline. One of my biggest gripes with this new trilogy and specifically TFA has been just the complete reset of the Empire/Rebel conflict with little context, but Bloodline does a great job of filling that in. It makes more sense to me how the First Order was able to basically grow unchecked after reading.

I'd also recommend Catalyst, it's another one that enhances the movies. It gives way more back story to Galen Erso, Krennic, and Saw Guerra in Rogue One. I've heard Rebel Rising gives Jyn a boost too, but I haven't read it.

Less connected ones to the movies I'd recommend are Lost Stars and Thrawn. Without spoiling much, Lost Stars gives us perspectives of lesser ranking soldiers on opposite sides of the Galactic Civil War and it's fantastic.

Is Thrawn just Pierce Brosnan painted blue? Also, I thought Ezra was a young Ben Solo for a second there.

I am very excited for the upcoming trailer. If I am able to stick to my guns, it is the only one I am going to watch.

I am full of shit, I probably will too. I also am "eating healthy and trying to lose weight" yet I hit up GrubHub every Saturday night when I'm working my overnight double. They rarely bring me healthy things.

Yea I’ve decided to not go in 100% blind. It’s going to be hard to resist for that long. Plus I’ve gone through too much shit lately. I need some joy in my life. I definitely won’t see the full trailers when they come out tho

From today's episode of Collider Movie Talk:
Peter Sciretta (/Film): (1:58) "I've heard some things about this [Episode IX] trailer, guys and gals...and I think this trailer is gonna kind of divide - like there's gonna be some hints at some stuff that might divide Star Wars fandom - I think but it's exciting. I think it's exciting." "I'm not saying it's not gonna be a crowd-pleaser but I think J. J. [Abrams] - from what I understand - J. J. is not taking the responsibility of this ending this trilogy, he's trying to end the whole [nine episode] saga as a whole. And to bring that full circle...you need to do some things. It's going to be interesting. You'll see."

Interesting. That makes me kind of nervous that it'll reveal too much.
