I didn't say anything about their quality, I talked about their cohesion.

At least we both agree TROS is bad. I’m fine with that lol

It’s bad. There’s plenty of blame to go around for why it’s bad. I’m ready to move forward from this movie.

  6. Mandalorian soon. I've been rewatching clone wars. Plenty of good star wars out there.

TROS over Iron Man? The Avengers? GOTG 1? GOTG 2? Winter Soldier? Civil War? Doctor Strange? Ragnorak? Black Panther? Infinity War? Endgame?

I'd even prefer Iron Man 3 over this

My only thought on the Marvel & Star Wars discussion is that I’ll always be impressed that Disney somehow let Ragnarok, Last Jedi, & Black Panther come out over a 4-month period. What a fluke in good storytelling from blockbusters released by the Disney corporate overlords, lol.

On the note of this movie, JJ Abrams is 100% the most to blame, regardless of how many other people share parts of the blame. Not just everyone can make something good under these conditions, but he specifically had a bad track records as far as story goes & specifically messed this up in some unforced, frustrating ways.

Whoever's idea it was to spend half the movie undoing everything that happened in the previous movie instead of just pushing on and building on it is 100% to blame

Has anything come out about what George Lucas thinks of TROS? I know he disliked TFA but enjoyed TLJ. Can't imagine he'd be fond of TROS as is suffers from the same issues he criticized TFA for. Which would be extra ironic considering JJ and Lucasfilm sat down with Lucas for story ideas prior to filming.

According to rumor-mongering website We Got This Covered, George Lucas wasn't just iffy on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker writer/director J.J. Abrams' decision to bring back Emperor Palpatine for the concluding chapter of the Skywalker Saga — he was downright peeved.

Of course, WGTC cites only its ever-anonymous sources — but we have to say, this squares pretty nicely with remarks made in the past by actor Ian McDiarmid, who has now portrayed the nefarious Emperor in all three trilogies.

"I thought he was dead," McDiarmid said. "Because when we did Return of the Jedi, and I was thrown down that chute to Galactic Hell, he was dead. And I [asked Lucas], 'Oh, does he come back?' And [Lucas] said, 'No, he's dead.' So I just accepted that"

honestly, I agree. i have happily re-watched all of the new SW films many many times over the last 5 years and have felt absolutely no desire to return to a single marvel movie other than perhaps Winter Soldier, Black Panther, and Ragnorok. The thought of sitting down for a marvel movie now just feels absolutely exhausting lol

Marvel stinks but they have stinky movies that are better than this movie

But the idea of preferring this to at least Black Panther and Ragnorok is wild. And if you want the space stuff, both Guardians movies are way fresher and more interesting

I imagine theres no way this is less entertaining than those for me - if only simply by virtue of existing in this far more interesting universe

Remember when they clumsily handed Chewie a medal out of nowhere, because YouTube videos & nerd clickbait articles mentioned that he didn’t have one at the end of the original 1977 film?

I won’t lie though, I’d still be down for Solo 2. The first one was fun. I’d rather turn on Solo than TROS.
