Rey doing this would have been bold at least, and to me a lot cooler than what we did get. Kylo could then do what he does in the movie and maybe end up at odds with her again. Still pretty silly overall and not what I would have done, but at least these are bold choices with stakes that bring the story to different and interesting places.

What I wouldn't give to know where Rian Johnson would have taken this trilogy had he done another chapter...

I think it's a real weird flex to be dying with your closest, best friend and your final words are to explain to them that you actually have the same power that makes them so unique. A real weird final "fuck you"

I never thought I’d walk out of the movie thinking he may have made a better film, but here we are

After watching Rise I am willing to say that I would have much preferred an Episode IX written by Rian Johnson and directed by Colin Trevorrow than what we got. I say this while also feeling that Colin Trevorrow is an absolutely abysmal director who took a movie that should have been an absolute slam dunk in Jurassic World and sucked any and all energy, passion and life out of it. Story is super important to me though.

JJ's strengths played much better in a trilogy opener and his weaknesses almost completely ruined the trilogy closer.

Favorite part of this trilogy is the force connection between Rey and Kylo.

    Enjoyed all those scenes immensely.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

probably been said but imagine how good this trilogy would have been if Rian had done the whole thing

...then again we might not have got Knives Out in that scenario. in which case fuck it I'll take Abrams Star Wars for that

Whenever JJ did the forcetiming scenes w Rey and Kylo it felt like Rian karaoke tbh

the lightsaber toss/teleportation was tight tho

Add when Zorii opened part of her helmet and that’s almost everything I liked in one list.

The Chewie thing was whatever to me because when the shuttle exploded this was what happened in my head:

“no way! Yea, there were 2 shuttles. Plus he hasn’t been in the Falcon with Lando yet. He is totally alive. Plus, wouldn’t have been cool to go out like that when you can have a moon fall on you instead.”

I get that a lot of Hollywood movies are made this way nowadays, but I mean come on, actors aren't fucking stupid.

Maybe they should've considered waiting another year before releasing this & making sure they had a story, especially since they're now waiting 3 years before the next Star Wars film. Maybe the "end of the Skywalker Saga" deserved more attention. Just, maybe.
