I genuinely enjoy this. Has it problems like the all the movies do but this was fun and I had a good time.

 

Aquaman was my initial comparison walking out. Some I loved some I laughed at some I couldn’t believe. And it was not the movie they thought they were making. I liked it enough that I’ll see it again when it comes out ... but I’m also still in a state of shock at the choices and how much it felt like a retreat and “fine fine fine we’ll make you happy don’t yell at us anymore” movie.

we didn’t deserve Rian Johnson

 

Oh, seeing the ewoks at the end was awesome. Was super afraid they’d cut to gungans after though.

 

On the same note as Rose - Poor Maz. Was this all-wise, all-knowing, kick-ass character in the first two that gets turned into a sad exposition machine in this.

 

Yup this is just more confirmation that Rian Johnson got fucked

 

Why did all the people come this time but not in the last movie? Was that said somewhere that I missed? Lando alone? It felt abrupt and in the moment I was trying to decide if all the Sith people in the coliseum were real or not (seems yes they got tossed).

 

I’m sorry, the idea of someone yelling that out is very funny to me

 

Should have cut to Jar Jar

 

Finn was basically used to tell us what was happening had happened was about to happen or to yell a character name dramatically.

 

Poe clearly doesn’t have the same clout as Lando

 

The full list of voice cameos at the end was great. KANAN JARRUS AND AHSOKA! but also, Adi fucking Galla gets in there but they’re gonna disrespect Ki Adi droid-attack-on-the-Wookiees Mundi?! Someone who actually had lines in the movies?!

 

It got laughs. As did the pigeon spy movie trailer. I can’t stress enough: people are stupid. Heh.

 

Hearing Freddy Prince made me legit happy.

 

We got the Bond trailer and I’m super stoked on that

any one get the Good Guy or whatever trailer with Ryan Reynolds that could be fun too

 

I can’t stress how happy seeing Rey’s yellow blade at the end made me. I’ve always wanted to see a Sentinel blade in a movie and I got my wish.

 

I miss the falcon porg. Bring back falcon porg.

 

We got thirty trailers five ads and two regal unlimited plugs and some “subscribe to my novve movie podcast” thing.

 

too little porgs but also the cynic in me is thinking they only shot that scene on Luke's island so that they could show the porgs god I love them

Pretty much from beginning to end I had a hard time caring about anything that really happened throughout. JJ is just such a bad filmmaker and story teller, imo. This felt like less like watching a movie or seeing a story play out, and more like seeing filmed fan fiction bullet points.

 

Frustrating. This had my some of my favorite moments in the entire series. Outside of those moments I didn’t care for it. Didn’t feel like a worthy addition or closure to the franchise. TLJ was so damn good. This could’ve been much more challenging, nuanced and rewarding in an accessible way.
