i..... i think i hated this....
like, it was enjoyable, had some great moments, but the negative outweighs the positive for me.

when Rey is revealed as being a Palpatine, i straight up said "oh for FUCKS sake," like i straight up despise JJ for that shit

 

Of the new set of movies for sure. Prequels are way worse.

 

I can’t tell if it was good or bad, or if I’m just a sucker for fan service? Gonna have to stew on it. Overall I enjoyed it though.

I fucked died at the first paragraph of the opening crawl though. Like what.

 

I’ll never ever ever agree that Rey being a palpatine or skywalker or whatever is better than her being a nobody, but i didnt hate the way they did it as much as i thought i would.

seeing Han wrecked me. I cried.

The Kiss (as it will forever be known) was cringey

Hux deserved so much better lol

other than that i really, really enjoyed this.

 

This was a lot more fun to watch than I expected, but also really, really dumb. What I keep coming back to is the feeling like someone draped sequel trilogy skin over prequel trilogy structure. Some good ideas & moments sprinkled throughout an awful script.

 

I think I saw a tweet the other day saying the same thing... and, I said the same thing to my friend on our way out.

Was Lando creeping on the ex-Stormtrooper at the end? I couldn’t tell how I was supposed to read that entire interaction because I was still trying to figure out how to spell dyad/diad in my head.

 

That’s for sure setting up a stand alone movie no?

It’s weird when people clap - it’s so weird!

 

The only conclusions I could come to is either he’s hitting on her or we’re supposed to think he’s related to her because of their skin color- which is not good look.

 

Poor Rose. Poor Rose being sent to wallow with the supporting cast of “Lost.”

 

Force Diad in theory sounds interesting to explore its just too bad we’ll never hear of it again lol

i very briefly took the lando/janna scene as.....is she his daughter?? I doubt theyd make an old man lando hitting on a young female unprompted scene but lando is a scoundrel after all.....idk super odd scene for sure.

 

Here are my thoughts

1. thank god we finally got the pay off to the Ben/Rey sexual tension!

2. Yes the porgs are still here - thank god!

3. that same-sex couple embrace at the end - I love it!

4. it was a good movie I had fun over analyzing is for nerds!!!!

 

We had a “did that bitch just kill Chewbacca” yelled out ... and one 30+ year old yell at two eight year olds that were I guess whispering too loud behind him at the laser sword movie. So yeah I hate people.

I hated that! One of my major qualms!

Also I just wanted some baby yoda to randomly pop up - don’t care if it didn’t make sense!

 

I liked my theater crowd. They groaned or laughed at the dumb moments, including Rey's family reveal, it was great.

 

Stupid movie making everything about bloodlines again and making that even a possibility for us to speculate on is a real goddammit moment.
